Entry 994
Monday 17th June 2019Bit of a tiring day. I had the uncomfortable conversation with Nikki and whilst there was a moment when it got very tense and heated, we managed to resolve things.
I woke up in the spare room after not really getting much sleep. The row with Nikki was going around in my head and I woke up with two deep cuts on my head. I say, "deep", they don't need stitches, but they were deep enough to have blood trickling down my face. I got up, had a shower, saw to Leo and then I went downstairs.
I walked into the kitchen and saw that Nikki had just finished making herself a cup of tea. Se hadn't made me one. Avoiding eye contact with me by maintaining an angry expression she stomped past me and plonked herself on the sofa. "We gonna talk?" I said. Nikki stayed silent but shrugged as she maintained her moody expression. "Nikki, grow up," I firmly said, "I have to go to work soon and I want to get this sorted before Gary turns up." "Oh, it's all about you isn't it?" said Nikki, "YOU want it sorted, YOU'VE got to get to work. What about me stuck here with your son? You're not the only one who's got stuff to do you know?" "What are on about?" I snapped, "That's not relevant to what we're talking about." "Oh?" said Nikki, "Your lack of respect for me is not relevant is it? Luke, I'm trying to get over the fact that I was recently kidnapped, that your old friend assaulted me, and you're treating me like sh*t." "I'm treating you like sh*t!?" I exclaimed, "Are you taking the p*ss? You whacked me round the head with a carriage clock and I fell to the floor." "Oh, stop exaggerating," said Nikki, "I gave you a little tap. It's not my fault you lost your balance." "You walloped me on the side of the head," I snapped, pointing at the two cuts above my eyebrow, "Look. You did that!" "Well, if you'd have said sorry for turning up late, that wouldn't have happened," snapped Nikki. "I DID say sorry!" I loudly snapped, "It's one of the first things I said when I walked through the door." "You said it in a casual manner as you were hanging your coat up," said Nikki, "I was in the kitchen and you were in the hallway. You didn't even say it to my face. Do you think that shows respect? You're the one that needs to grow up! Anyway, a real man would be able to take a punch." "A punch?" I exclaimed, "You whacked me with the sharp side of the clock from the mantelpiece. That was more than a punch. How would you like it if I whacked you in the face with something sharp and heavy?" Nikki stood up off the sofa and turned and stared at me with fury on her face. "Are you threatening me?" she snapped. "No!" I loudly said, "I'm..." "You have just threatened me," snapped Nikki, showing me the whites of her eyes, "You have just stood there and threatened me!" "Nikki," I said, "I..." "You want to threaten me?" snapped Nikki, interrupting me, "Want to scare me? To hurt me?" Nikki quickly dashed into the kitchen and returned with a sharp knife and aggressively offered it to me. "Go on then," she snapped, "Threaten me. Go on. Take the knife and threaten to stab me. Will that make you a big hard man?" "What are you on about!?" I loudly exclaimed, "You're acting like a nutter!" "Oh!!!?" Nikki loudly exclaimed, "I'm acting like a nutter, am I?! Well I'd better act like one then, hadn't I?!" Nikki pointed the blade of the knife towards her stomach. "What the f*ck are you doing!?" I loudly exclaimed. "I'll stab myself if you can't do it," snapped Nikki, "How about that? Is that what you want? Will that make you happy?" "No of course it won't make me happy!" I loudly shrieked, "Just put the f*cking knife down!" "Do you like making me feel worthless, Luke?" said Nikki. "What are you on about?" I exclaimed. "Do you like making me feel like I'm nothing... LIKE I'M F*CKING NOTHING!!!" "Nikki, I don't know what's going on here?" I said, "Just put the knife down. We can talk about this. For God's sake you're my girlfriend. I don't want you to hurt yourself." There was a short pause. Nikki dropped the knife and she fell to the floor and started sobbing. I walked over to her, joined her on the floor and put my arms around her. "It's OK," I said, as I hugged Nikki and tried to provide her with reassurance, "It's OK. I'm here." "I just remember how my exes treated me," sobbed Nikki, "They used to treat me like sh*t and walk all over me." "Oh babes, I know that," I said, "But I'm not like your exes. I don't want to treat you like sh*t and walk all over you. If we all still had phones, I'd have texted or called you and said I was going to be home late. I'm sorry if I reminded you of your exes. I'd never go out of my way to hurt you." Nikki looked at me as she wiped her tears away. "It's OK," said Nikki. "Now I don't want to see you threatening to hurt yourself again," I said, "God, I don't want to see anything bad happening to you, and I definitely don't want to see you hurting yourself." I gave Nikki a kiss and five minutes later we were drinking tea and laughing about the weather. It felt a bit odd but I was just glad that the arguing had stopped and that we were talking again. I felt really angry at how Nikki's exes had treated her, and how they they'd contributed towards her feeling so insecure. Bunch of arseholes. They've got a lot to answer for. I just need to show Nikki that I'm not like her tw*tty exes and that men can be nice guys.
Gary picked me up and we drove to work. He said I looked stressed and he asked me about the cuts on my head. "Oh, it's a long story," I said, "I don't want to talk about it." Work was rather tiring. I ended up moving lots of heavy lockers from one side of the monitoring station to the other. God knows what the point in doing it was but I did it.
When I got home, I was covered in sweat and my back was aching. As I walked up to the front door, I noticed lots of comings and goings from the house next door. That's when I remembered we had a new neighbour moving in. I felt like I should say hello, but I was so tired and sweaty from work I just wanted to get in the house and relax.
When I walked into the living room Nikki was playing with Leo. I gave them both a kiss, told them I'd had a tiring day and asked Nikki who the new neighbour was. "No idea," she said, "I've been busy looking after this gorgeous little chap. Mind you we should probably go round and say hello." "Oh God, not today," I said, "Let's do it tomorrow. I'm exhausted." "Well, it's a good job I have run you a bath and made you a nice hot meal." "You've run me a bath?" I said, sounding impressed. "Yes," said Nikki, "Now you go upstairs, have a nice bath and make sure you're back down here in half an hour, and I'll have the dining table set and we can have a nice meal together." Nikki gave me a kiss and then I went upstairs.
When I walked into the bathroom the room was scattered with tealight candles and there was some soft music playing on the little CD player on the windowsill. The bath was full of bubbles and the whole room smelt gorgeous. I felt proper pampered. It was a luxurious bath and I managed to chill and relax. After my bath, I went downstairs, Nikki put Leo to bed and then we sat together at the dining table and had a nice hot meal together. It was lovely. Romantic music, good food, candles on the table. Lovely. "This is really nice," I said to Nikki. "It is, isn't it?" she said, "This is what I wanted to happen last night. I wanted us to have a nice evening in together." "I know," I said with a smile, "Well, we're having one, now aren't we?" What followed was a lovely evening, leading to cuddling on the sofa, concluding with some pretty amazing sex!
I hope we can have more evenings like this. I really don't want to be in a situation where I'm looking at Nikki threatening to stab herself. That was awful, but I can't blame Nikki. I blame her f*cking nasty exes for messing her about and emotionally abusing her. I need to remember that she's still probably coming to terms with being kidnapped too.
I'm not working tomorrow. Day off. I'm looking forward to meeting up with Sci-Fi Cyn in Sandown.
