Entry 1000
Sunday 23rd June 2019Bit of a quiet but sadly rather tense day.
Natasha came round and said that she wasn't happy with the noise that we were making last night. "We were having a housewarming party," I said, "Sorry if the music was loud but I really didn't think it was that loud at all." "It wasn't the music," said Natasha, "It was your girlfriend shouting and yelling at everyone to get out. Trouble in paradise?" "None of your business," I bluntly said. "Don't talk to me like that," said Natasha, "I'm just being neighbourly, and perhaps I need to remind you that I am still your boss." "You're being nosey, not neighbourly," I firmly said, "And perhaps I need to remind you that, as you said before, you're not my boss out of work." "Don't take it out on me because you and your girlfriend aren't getting on, Luke," said Natasha. "Did you want something else, Natasha?" I said, "Or can I shut the door now?" "Your cat keeps pooing on my front lawn," said Natasha. "Don't worry, you can keep the sh*ts as fertiliser. We won't even charge you," I said. "I'm not commenting, I'm complaining," said a firm Natasha, "I want your cat to stop." "It's not my cat, it's Nikki's cat," I said, "Talk to her." "Where is she?" asked Natasha. "In Sandown," I said. "Do you know when she'll be back?" asked Natasha. "No," I bluntly said, "Bye." I then shut the door. God, that woman annoys me.
In other news Blade made an announcement over the island public address system today. The walls are finally finished! Cowes, Newport, Sandown and Ryde now have big thick walls all the way around them. Blade said the walls are of a similar thickness to the walls around the containment area at The Hive. Apparently, there are two entrances; one to the north of each area and one to the south. Each entrance is guarded by armed GRID soldiers 24 hours a day, and the only way any person, thing or vehicle can get in or out of each populated area of the island is by entering or exiting the north or south entrance to each suburb. Each person, thing or vehicle that tries to enter or exit the entrances will be stopped by GRID soldiers and asked to explain where they are going and why. To me, this sounds like we're prisoners. The whole thing is an absolute joke. Blade must be off his head for sanctioning something so stupid. If there's an outbreak in any of the walled off populated areas, anyone who lives within the walls is f*cked, especially if they're in Newport. Ryde, Cowes and Sandown are by the sea, but Newport has a wall all the way around the area. I know we have the underground bunkers, but we would not be able to get there in time if there is an outbreak and it spreads fast. I suppose it's something I should give some thought to, but right now I'm more bothered about what's going on with me and Nikki.
Nikki has hardly spoken to me all day. She's just been sat on the sofa, reading a book and stroking that vicious b*stard of a cat. I tried to talk to her but she said she had nothing to say to me. She's really p*ssed off with me. "Nikki," I said, "I'm really sorry I hid the fact that TJ and Trudy were here, and I'm really sorry I didn't step in when Trudy and TJ started kicking off, but I don't think it's fair that you make me choose between you and them." "Luke, I am not talking to you," said Nikki, "You know how I feel and you know what I want." "I can understand you not wanting me to speak to TJ and Trudy," I said, "But Mike and Sci-Fi Cyn... Come on..." "Come on, nothing!" snapped Nikki, "Mike brought TJ and Trudy here, and Cyn lied and did all she could to keep me in the living room away from them." "Because she didn't want you to get upset," I said. "I'm not interested in excuses," said Nikki, "Ditch them, or I ditch you." "Nikki, I don't think you're being fair," I said. "After last night you are NOT in a position to talk to me about being fair," said Nikki. "OK," I said, "How about this? I still meet up with Cyn and Mike, and maybe TJ and Trudy every now and then but they never come here. How about that? Is that a compromise?" There was a tense pause. "I'll think about it," said Nikki.
I hope Nikki doesn't take too long thinking about it. I'm meeting Mike and Sci-Fi Cyn in Cowes tomorrow, and I need to know what I'm going to tell them. The bruise on my face from where Nikki punched me is still there, and Minnie the satanic cat is still hissing at me and looking at me like she hates me. F*cking evil cat. I don't know what I'm going to do if Nikki tells me she doesn't want me to see Cyn, Mike, TJ and Trudy ever again. We've all been through so much together, I just can't imagine not having them in my life. I know Trudy and TJ can be complete nightmares, and even Mike is handful at times, but we've all been there for each other, and as for Sci-Fi Cyn, if it wasn't for her convincing Blade to bring me over to the island in the cryogenic freezer, I could still be on the mainland with no idea of what's going on, or worse still, I could still be frozen. I just hope Nikki sleeps on it and sees sense.
I'm still banished to the spare room...
