Entry 1085
Monday 16th September 2019I am currently sat on the end of my bed in a state of shock. I mean, last week was bad enough with Nikki's cat killing and plate throwing antics, but all of that suddenly seems insignificant after what I've just seen.
The day started with me getting ready for work and apologising to Nikki for my drunken behaviour. I didn't want to make a big deal out of it, but I thought I should say sorry. She was sat on the sofa as I was putting my shoes and my coat on, and I told her that I was sorry for making loads of noise whilst she was trying to get to sleep, and that I was sorry for being rude to her and calling her all those names. As predicted, Nikki totally milked this and said that I was horrible person, and that I should be ashamed of myself, and that she's the big poor victims, but I wasn't getting sucked in. "Nikki," I said, interrupting to her as she was halfway through insulting me, "I've said sorry. That's it. Over. If you want to carry on moaning and ranting and raving about it, fine. Just go do it to that wall over there, because it'll be more interested in your whining sh*t than I will be. Now, I'm going to work. I'm off to Cowes straight from work and I'll be back later this evening. Bye." Nikki continued shouting, screaming, ranting, and raving, but I just ignored her, left the house, and walked down the street and met Gary who was waiting to give me a lift.
After work, Gary gave me a lift to Cowes, and I met up with Mike and Sci-Fi Cyn at Sails Café. I had a brief chat and a cuppa with them, but I didn't stay too long as I knew I'd be seeing them later at Auntie Meryl's welcome home party. I went round to Mum and Auntie Meryl's, played with Leo for a bit and spent some time with Mum and Auntie Meryl. "I'm going to pop round to see Ash soon," I said. "I thought you were going to help me with these bl**dy balloons," said Mum. "I will," I said, "I just want to have a chat with Ash, first." "What about?" asked Mum. "None, of your bl**dy business," I said. "Now, am I supposed to act all surprised?" asked Auntie Meryl. "You what?" I asked. "The party," said Auntie Meryl, "Am I supposed to act all surprised when you jump out?" "Surprised?" I said, "Jump out? What are you on about?" "This surprise party," said Auntie Meryl. "Surprise party?" I said, "It's not a surprise party. How can it be a surprise party? You've invited everyone." "Oh?" said Auntie Meryl, "So, you're not going to all jump out and shout surprise?" "No," I exclaimed, "What the surprise?" "My party," said Auntie Meryl. "But you know it's happening," I said, "We all know it's happening. So, it's not a surprise." I've no idea what goes on in Auntie Meryl's head sometimes.
I went round to see Ash. Naomi wasn't it, and Ash was sat looking after Sophie. "So come on," I said to Ash, "What was all that stuff you said the other night?" "What stuff?" asked Ash. "Oh, come on," I said, "Don't act like you don't know what I'm on about. All that stuff you said about Naomi." "Oh, Luke," said Ash, "I was drunk. I don't remember what I said. Do you want some tea?" "Stop changing the subject," I said, "If I must remind you of exactly what you said to me, then I will. Now stop talking about tea and tell me what you meant?" "Look," said Ash, "I really shouldn't have said anything. Can we please just forget it." "No!" I exclaimed, "How can I forget it. You said Naomi was in love with me. Why would you say that? I mean I know you were p*ssed, but come on. I mean, what was it? Some sort of cruel joke?" "No, not at all," said Ash. "So, are you saying she is in love with me?" I asked. "No," said Ash, "Well... I...Oh God, I wish I'd have kept my mouth shut." "Ash, just tell me what's going on," I firmly said. There was a short pause. Ash gave a deep sigh. "It all started when you were in that coma," said Ash. "That was ages ago," I said, "Anyway what do you mean? What started?" "It's when she realised, she had feelings for you," said Ash. I suddenly felt very numb. It was kind of like being in a weird state of shock. A short silence lingered. "You alright?" asked Ash, "You look like you've just sh*t yourself." "Erm... Sorry," I said, shaking my head, "What did you say?" "Naomi thought you was going to die," said Ash, "That's when she realised, she was in love with you. She was going to tell you but then all that stuff happening with you in Egypt, and then you had all that stuff with Kyle to deal with, and then there was all that drama over on the mainland..." "Why didn't YOU tell me!?" I exclaimed. "I promised Naomi I wouldn't," said Ash, "It was for her to tell you, not me. She'll go in a right mood when she finds out I've blabbed." "Well, why didn't she tell me?" I asked, "Once everything had calmed down why didn't she tell me how she felt?" "Because you got together with Nikki," said Ash, "There just wasn't a good time, and when she did eventually decide to tell you, you and Nikki were getting serious, you fell out with Naomi and then your Auntie had her accident. That meal you both had at Tonino's... She was going to tell you then that she's in love with you, but then Nikki showed up and aid she was pregnant. Naomi was still going to tell you how she felt but then you turned up and told her that you were going to move in with Nikki. It's like the fates were conspiring against her, and you saying that you wanted to be single and had been put off women didn't help." "Well, I wouldn't have said all that if I knew how Naomi felt," I exclaimed, "For crying out loud, I don't believe this. I've been mad about Naomi ever since we met in the sexual health clinic." "Hmmm," said Ash, "Not the most romantically worded sentence, is it? Anyway, I don't think any of this matters now." "What do you mean?" I asked. "Well, as far as Naomi's concerned, you're not interested," said Ash, "You've made it clear that you're not interested in any sort of relationship and that your focus is on Nikki and this pregnancy. Naomi's accepted that you and her are never going to happen." "Yeah, but I only made it clear 'm not interested in a relationship because she's always made it clear that she just wants to be friends." "That changed when you ended up in that coma," said Ash. "Bl**dy Hell," I said, "Well, what am I supposed to do now?" "Well, how do you feel about her?" asked Ash, "Can you imagine being in a relationship with her?" "Yes!" I loudly said, "If me and her got together, I'd be the happiest the guy in the world. I can't believe this is happening. I have to say something to her." "Look," said Ash, "If you decide to say something, don't say I blabbed. She'll have a right go at me" "If I tell her that I think we could make a go of it, do you think she'd be interested?" I asked. "I suppose," said Ash, shrugging his shoulder, "I mean she hasn't really mentioned you for the last couple of weeks. Like I said, I think she's accepted that you're not interested, but if you tell her you want to give it a go, I guess it could all work out. You going to say something then?" "You know something," I said, with a big smile on my face, "I think I might. I'll try and get her on her own tonight and talk to her then." I gave Ash and excited hug. "What was that for?" asked Ash. "I'm excited," I said, "I think me, and Naomi are going to get it together." "Hmm," said Ash, "And I'm sure that there won't be any problems at all what with you living with your pregnant ex." "Bugger off," I said, "Your sarcasm won't ruin this."
