Entry 1032
Thursday 25th July 2019

I met the new acting Commander today. Talk about intense. VERY intense!

I had the day off from work, so whilst Nikki was at home doing a few bits and bobs, I took Leo for a walk on the beach where I saw Gary in the distance with some other GRID soldiers. They were talking to another GRID soldier; a tall, slender man in his thirties with stubble, a pale complexion and mousey hair. He had a stern look on his face and the way the other soldiers were talking to and acting around him I got the impression that he might be the new Acting Commander.

I walked to the soldiers and as I got closer, I looked at the tall slender man and flashed him a smile. The man slowly looked me up and down with a look of contempt on his face. It was a bit like he was trying to figure out what I was. I saw the look Gary's face. He widened his eyes and slowly and discreetly started shaking his head from side-to-side signalling that I should walk away. Feeling a bit confused and uncertain I found myself stood in front of the tall, towering man introducing myself. "Hi," I said, "Are you the new Acting Commander by any chance?" "Ah," said the tall man, "You're Luke Warm. The guy that was frozen for five weeks. Blade told me about you." "All good I hope," I said with a cheeky smile on my face. "No," the Acting Commander said, "Not good at all. In fact, you're on my list. My naughty list." "You sound a bit like Santa Claus," I giggled. With a crazed look in his eye, the scary looking man took an intimidating step close to me. "Do I look like I'm laughing?" the man asked in a threatening tone. "Err.... No," I said, feeling a bit nervous, "Look, I think we're getting off on the wrong foot. I know me and Blade didn't always get on but maybe me and you can? I just wanted to congratulate you on your temporary promotion from Corporal to Acting Commander." "I was Lieutenant not Corporal you dumb f*ck," the man said. "Oh..." I said, "I'm not familiar with all the ranks and all that." "Well maybe you should just shut the f*ck up," said the Acting Commander. "Look, there's no need to be like that," I said, "I..." The Acting Commander grabbed hold of me by the scruff my collar, aggressively pulled me towards him and with a crazed look in his eye, he gave me a firm warning. "Now listen to me, you worthless piece of sh*t," he snapped, "I'm in charge around here now, and I don't need spineless little p*ssies like you getting in my way. I could CRUSH you with my bare hands. Do you understand what I'm saying!?" I felt VERY scared and I totally believed that this man could kick my arse and crush me. I gulped with anxiety and looked with fear into the horrible man's crazed eyes. "Err... I... Err..." I stuttered. "Err... I... Err... I... Err... I... Err," said the Acting Commander taking the mick out of me, "Come on you little shrimp. Spit it out." "Yes," I said with a tremor in my voice, "Yes, I understand. I understand what you're saying." The vile man released me from his tight grasp. "There we go," the Acting Commander said, brushing some bits of my shoulder, "Not that hard was it. Now you might strut around this island like you're some sort of celebrity but you're not. You're the weird f*ck up who sh*ts on children, and whose son waved a gun at people. You and your mates might have survived over on the mainland and maybe once you were one of the famous ACROBAT Seven, but now you're just another resident on this island. In fact, you're not just a resident; you're nothing. You're less than nothing." The Acting Commander looked down at Leo and removed him from his pram and picked him up and held him in his arms. "Hello, little fella," the Acting Commander said, "Is your Daddy a waste of space? A spineless little pr*ck? Is that what he is?" "Please," I said, "Not in front of my son." The horrible man placed Leo back in his pram. I noticed that Gary and the other soldiers looked uncomfortable. It was like they weren't happy with the Acting Commander's conduct but felt too scared to say anything. "What sort of a father are you going to be to that boy?" sniped the Acting Commander, "Worthless piece of sh*t. The poor little mite needs a man – a real man to show him how to be a real man and defend himself, especially in this world. Poor f*cker's got no chance with you has he?" "We were just on the beach showing the Commander where Blade had placed the utilised infected," said Gary, clearly trying to change the subject. "That's right," said the Acting Commander, "You better hold on tight, Warm. Things are going to be different on this island. The mollycoddling, the bullsh*t, the soft approach and all this pampering is over. This is MY island now, and there are going to be some big changes, and I mean big. Blade was too soft. I'm not going to be making that mistake. In fact, I'm not going to be making any mistake. I don't take sh*t from anyone." "Err... OK," I said. "Now get out of here," said the Acting Commander, "And keep an ear out for my announcement in a day or so. I'm going to be telling you and everyone else on this island how things are going to be from now on." Feeling relieved that my interaction with this arsehole was over, Leo and I left the beach and went back home.

When I got home, I told Nikki about meeting the new Acting Commander. "The man is an absolute arrogant arsehole," I snapped, "He spoke to me like sh*t. He grabbed hold of me! I thought he was going to punch me. God, I know me and Blade didn't get on but he wasn't as bad as that pr*ck." "He grabbed hold of you in front of Leo?" said Nikki. "Yeah," I said, "He even picked up Leo and gave him a cuddle. REALLY intimidating and totally inappropriate. He told Leo that I was a spineless little pr*ck. I was going to ask him to look into who was sending you those threatening letters but I didn't think it was a good idea. He'd have probably told me to man up and deal with myself." "Maybe it's best you just try and avoid him," said Nikki. "That's exactly what I plan on doing," I said, "But I might bump into him at The Hive."

God knows what's going to happen with a monster like him in charge. I wonder what Natasha will think of him and how the QCUC proposals will be affected. I guess time will tell. With an aggressive thug like that as Acting Commander I can't imagine life on the island will be easy. I never thought I'd say this but I can't wait for Blade to get back.
