I sat in the bar with Travis. His healing had taken longer than normal, but that was okay. I was just happy he was alive, and now the strongest person I know. I laughed about something Vadim said before Yefim pulled him aside to ask about a customer. I sighed, holding Travis's hand in my own. He sipped his chocolate milkshake, "Go to my place, and open my satellite's back dish."
I smiled, "What? Why?"
"Just go do it, come on. It'll be fun."
"Are you coming with me?"
"Nope. I have business to discuss with Vadim. You go ahead. I'll be here." I frowned a little in curiosity, but did as he said. I had to borrow a ladder and a screwdriver, but I did as commanded, and a folded up sheet of paper fell out. It looked like a note. I unfolded it, and it read:
So, the day has come, then. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Always knew it would. This is either good, or bad. I'm either dead, or getting married. Large difference between the two, but I guess an immature part of you dies when you get married. No less, here you are. I guess this not was written just for you, then. Well, I want you to know that I love you, if I'm dead. And if I'm alive, know that I will love you undyingly. Go to the upper stands, and open the floorboard in the left corner of the bar.
-Travis
I smiled. Travis always knew the way to my heart. How long ago had he written this? Was this some sort of will, for marraige or death? No matter. I tucked it into my pocket, and headed to the upper stands. I got there, and without getting caught, opened the floorboard and fished out the next note.
Guess you must be pretty cool to go for the second note. Most people just sort of give up. Not that anyone's ever read these except me, but... people tend to give up on me after a while. Thanks for sticking around. Go to Moe, and ask him for 'The Cherry Red Bomber'. Sounds like a childish dessert, I know. He'll know what it means.
-Travis
I folded the note, and went down to where Moe sold his all too famous Swatter's. I looked at the sheet of yellow, worn paper, "Hey, Moe. How's buisness? Can I get a Cherry Red Bomber?"
Moe sighed, "Finally died, did he? Knew that surgery wouldn't go well."
I frowned, "What? No. He's alive. And well."
Now chuckled nervously, "Well, Pardon me, but I thought he'd die before get engaged." Engaged? He tossed me a cherry red baseball bat. I rolled it around in my hands, and saw something written on the side.
Hit home.
-Travis
I tucked the bat under my arm, and made my way back to my house. I technically didn't live there, but I stayed the night in the empty room whenever I needed. I entered cautiously. I looked around, and seeing nothing, I began to search. I saw yet another sheet of paper on the couch. I picked it up, and read it:
Turn around.
-Travis
I put the note with the others, and turned around. I dropped the bat and it clattered to the floor. Travis was down on one knee, his eyes full of meaning as he held a gorgeous band-like ring inside of a small case. His eyes met mine, "Y/N, I know you said you'd marry me, and I'm hoping you haven't changed you're mind." His gaze fell to the floor, "But I mean, if you did change your mind-"
I tackled him to the floor, peppering his face with kisses, "Why the hell would I say no? I love you, you goddamn soldier." He chuckled, looping his arms around me.
