"Hey guys." Luffy said, popping into the boy's room and leaping onto his bunk. He landed on his stomach, happy to be able to hide the egg on his face from his friends.
"The Hell are you doing here?" Zoro said, sounding a little annoyed.
"Yeah, brother! Shouldn't you be with Misaki?" Franky chided.
"This is your first night back together on the Sunny! Why are you apart?" Jimbei agreed.
"Usopp stole the crow's nest." Luffy said, his voice muffled by the pillows.
"That asshole!" Sanji sniped. "What was he thinking?!"
"It's fine. I don't think Misaki wanted to go up there anyways." Luffy said, his voice cracking a little.
"What makes you say that, Captain?" Brook asked, making Luffy groan in response.
"There's no way she wouldn't want to go up!" Chopper squeaked. "Maybe you're just overthinking it!"
"That's dangerous! Luffy doesn't do well with overthinking." Sanji said, shaking his head.
"I'm right here, ya know!" Luffy groaned.
They were right, of course. Luffy probably was overthinking it. Not really like him. But all he could think about when she asked him if they were still doing that was how dejected he felt when she said she didn't want to go back to the crystal cave. She didn't know why he wanted to go back, but she shot it down without even trying to understand. That's what it felt like. He felt like he had been shot down. He felt like she didn't want to go to the crow's nest. Instead, it felt like a hard set return to the original status quo. She sleeps there, he sleeps here, and occasionally, they sleep together.
Back then, he was so scared of losing her, that he told her it was ok to return back to the status quo. Was it too much? We could just go back. But Luffy didn't want to go backwards. He wanted to keep moving forward. He wanted to move towards an engagement. He wanted to marry her. As King of the Pirates. So then, why couldn't he pull that little box out?
"Captain? Are you ok?" Sanji said, peering at him.
"No." He said, muffling his voice in the pillow. Hoping they didn't hear his reply.
"Oh no! WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO?!" Chopper said, popping up on the bed. ".do you feel sick?"
Sick may not have been the word he used to describe how he felt in that moment. Luffy didn't really know what it was like to be sick. To be dying? Yeah, of course. To be poisoned? Oh yeah. But sick? He wasn't really sure... he didn't feel as bad as when he got poisoned those few times. But he definitely didn't feel good either. His stomach was tight, and his chest felt like bubble wrap, as his heart beat heavily against it. Ugh.
"Chopper, he is not sick." Sanji said. "Not in the traditional way at least."
"Then what's wrong with me?" Luffy said, a sob catching in his throat.
"You seem confused. Hurt. Love sick maybe." Sanji said, scratching his chin.
"How could I be love sick?! We already did that!" He whined into his pillow.
"Well, things got weird there for a while, you know. Do you want to talk about it?"
"No." Luffy said, putting his hands behind his head and laying on his back. "I want to talk to Misaki, not you guys. No offense."

"Mom, move overrr." I whined as I let myself fall face-first onto the bed.
"Well that was dramatic." She said as she patted me on top of the head. "Whatcha doin here, love?"
