Demands

I hung up the phone, pursing my lips as I handed it back to the soldier.

"Well?" The soldier said.

"He wants a full comprehensive and report from someone on the scene and from this puts' team. At least that's what I'm assuming. But for now, we are still at a ceasefire."

"Your demands weren't outlandish by any means."

"I just want everyone to be able to live peacefully here still. Unbothered." I said, looking at the ground. "And I would like Chodely not to have the power to harass us anymore."

"It still bothers me that he was able to traverse the new world though." Kramer said, furrowing his brow. "I feel like he shouldn't have been able to do that."

"He stayed one step ahead of us for a while. Until he didn't." Luffy said, putting his hands on his hips.

"I'm just glad he didn't take my deal on the devil fruit." I said, still looking down. "I was so desperate I... I shouldn't have offered it to him. Especially with how powerful it ended up being."

Luffy walked over and hugged me tightly. I breathed heavily, letting my face fall into his chest as the wind whipped up around us. His heart was pounding against my face, making me relax into him.

"I get it. But don't ever let someone get in your way like that again." He said, giving me a squeeze. "We will always be here to back you up."

"Always." Zoro affirmed, placing a hand on my shoulder. I looked up and smiled at him.

    "I knew that. I just..."

I was cut off with a playful pop to the back of my head. Zoro shot me a crooked grin.

"Then don't try and handle it all by yourself again, dumbass."

We all laughed as I pulled away from Luffy, attempting to pop Zoro back, which he easily dodged. Luffy laughed, before suddenly becoming serious, his eyes glowing as he turned to face away from the house.

Suddenly, everybody stiffened. Soldiers, Luffy, Kramer, Zoro. Everybody, a scene crept in as if it were crawling right in from my eyes. Wait... I can see it.

Screaming, terror, begging. Two jets flying quickly overhead. Then it all turned to white.

Luffy shot forward, his arm becoming encased in armament haki as he blew into it, upgrading his body. Zoro unsheathed all three swords, ready to blitz forward in an instant.

"Everybody GET OVER HERE NOW!" I yelled. Some of the soldiers hesitated. I took a deep breath in. "ITS A BOMB!"

I looked at Kramer as everybody started running toward us. He was drenched in sweat already, and still breathing heavily from all the dimension hopping he had to do already. He couldn't help us. We had no choice but to stand our ground. I took a deep breath as everybody crowded over to me, waiting until the last second, hoping to conserve my energy.

Luffy and Zoro shot forward to intercept the jets, rocketing at breakneck speed. Zoro sliced the first one in half, begrudgingly saving the mane inside as Luffy split the jet open with his bare hands, letting both him and the pilot fall toward the ground. Then, Zoro and Luffy unleashed a combination attack, sending a shockwave up toward the rubble, and ricocheting them up into the sky.

For a moment, everything was quiet as Zoro and Luffy fell into the crowd of soldiers. Then, a white flash could be seen. I slammed my fists together, letting out a scream as my heart raced and pounded against my chest. A vortex of winds stronger than I could ever muster encased around the crowd, the house, the barn, and blew away the clouds as the sound barrier broke. A sound so loud it cracked through the sky and reverberated against the winds, blowing back against my barrier. I was all that stood between the destruction of everything and everybody here. I grit my teeth as we watched the explosions and fire plume over the dome of wind, hoping, praying, that I could keep it up.
