Luffy caught up to me, laughing as I made it to a babbling brook. I giggled as I tossed him the basket so I could gather my dress up in my hands. I kicked off my sandals, dipping my toes into the cool water.
"Ooooh!" I shuddered. "It's chilly!"
I tiptoed through the brook, making Luffy break out in uncontrollable laughter.
"What's your problem?" I said, puffing out my cheeks.
"Nothing! I just... I love you!" He laughed, mocking my movements from the grass as he dropped the picnic basket. "You're just so silly!"
"I'm just going through the brook!" I snapped, straightening my arms out in annoyance. I couldn't throw them over my head because of the dress.
Luffy laughed harder, holding his stomach as if it were causing him pain. "You're so funnyyyy!"
"Hey!" I snapped again, spinning around to face him as he got a little closer. It's getting harder to be annoyed. "Stop it."
"heeheeHAHAHA! Stop! I can't breathe!" Luffy said, finally making me laugh as I tiptoed closer to him.
"I'ma splash you if you don't stop!"
"N-no! W-wait!" He laughed, dropping to his knees.
"Too late!" I said, kicking the water.
It created a dramatic splash, drenching him as he continued to laugh. He reached down and splashed the water up at me with his hand, making me bubble over with giggles.
"AHHH! Wait! Don't get me too wet! That's COOOOLD!!!!!" I squealed, trying to tiptoe away.
"I think I'm gonna die!" Luffy laughed, making me laugh as I tripped, falling face first into the brook. "Oh my— you ok?" He said, trying to stifle his giggles.
I silently thanked that the brook was only about an inch or two deep where I fell. It didn't make me feel weak really. I lifted my head, letting out a hardy laugh as a river rock unstuck from my cheek.
"PFFFFFFFFT" Luffy couldn't help but roar with laughter as the rock plopped back into the water. "SORRY!!!!"
I couldn't help but keep laughing as I felt a pair of hands grasp at my sides, pulling me onto my feet. The water cascaded off of me, yet I was still drenched. I stumbled out of the water, laughing so hard I couldn't even walk straight, and tried taking a few breaths as the wind whirled around me, dancing in the most chaotic fashion.
"Luffyyy!" I said, trying to stifle my giggles.
"I'm coming!" Luffy said, still giggling as he snatched the basket. "Sorry you got wet. I feel bad for your dress!"
An image flashed in my mind, making my head tilt as my laughing vanished. It was of Aang, from Avatar. I wonder. I flattened my hand, taking a deep breath, and punched it as I exhaled, making my chest feel like it was going to explode as air forced outward from me, repelling the water from even my clothes.
"WOAHHHHH! SO COOOOOOL!" Luffy said, springing over the brook and snatching at the fabric of my dress, pinching it between his fingers. "It's not even damp! Not even a little!"
"Funny. I got the idea from a show." I said, scratching my head. "Can't believe it actually worked!"
"You're already so good at using your devil fruit, M'!" He said, still pinching a part of my dress.
"I wouldn't say I'm proficient at it yet, but it's nice to figure some of it out. Initially, I thought it was only controlled through my heartbeat, but it turns out there are a lot of different ways to trigger and control the wind."
