Okie Dokie, my friends....I'm reiterating Lance's request, that ya'll don't go 'Ellie Freeman' on me and mess up my pretty face 😌 I'm doing something completely different, and I'm really excited. I want to see what it's like through the eyes of a stranger, when she meets the clan for the first time. Her take on everyone. From here on out, whenever I want a glimpse into Alex and Lilah's home, it will be through the eyes of Gabrielle Avery.

Don't panic...I will continue going from character to character like I always have. I'm just adding Gabrielle to the POV list. Eventually, I might add Nolan, Ethan, and Zoe too. We're going to have to see where the story takes us!

Name credit!

Gabrielle: hankPie
Avery: Divina909 and Niamhm98

Thanks for the help, guys 😘

Gabby's POV

"Gabrielle, we have found you a home, sweetheart," Annie says with a smile on her face.

"Gabby," I say without even looking at her. I've heard the same thing 4 times in the last 6 months. Wonder how long I will stay in this spot before they turn me back in? The consensus is that I have anger and behavioral issues.

It makes me chuckle. Whatever. I'll deal with these people for a month or two, and then they'll take me back to the pound.

The mutt is always unwanted.

Annie comes up to me and sits next to me on the couch. "I know these people. My brother works with the most amazing lady. Her brother just adopted two kids around your age over the summer, and they are doing amazing. This is the real deal, Gabby. You're finally getting a family."

I hear that she's talking, but she's saying nothing I've never heard before.

'Amazing lady'

'Real deal'

'Getting a family."

The last one bugs me the most. I'm not getting a family, I'm getting someone who wants a paycheck.
I'm just a paycheck to these people. None of the foster parents I've ever had cared about me, just their money.

"They're anxious to meet you. Let's get your stuff together and we will head over. Alex is a detective, and Lilah is a realtor. They have a 17 year old son, Colton."

"Well, Colton better keep his hands to himself, or he's gonna be turned into a girl real quick," I snap.

She looks at me, shocked. I've never been touched before, but I've heard stories. Bad ones. You gotta' show these people whose boss, or they will quickly get the upper-hand. I've played this game way too many times before.

We ride in silence. If I hadn't done this so many times, I'd be nervous. Eventually you just get numb to it, though. You feel nothing. I'll just go here for a bit, and pretty soon, Annie will come pick me up. It's what we call, full-circle.

When we get to the neighborhood, I groan loudly. These people are rich, stuck-up snobs. I immediately know why they're doing this. They feel guilty that they are so loaded, so they "want to give back to the community"...."help the unfortunate"....I really am a charity case to these people.

It's always the rich people who have the darkest secrets. This is a nightmare.

When she stops at a huge, way-too-big house, I roll my eyes. These people aren't going to be able to handle me. This is going to be cake.

I follow her up, and before we can get to the door, a giant of a man opens it with a fake smile on his face.

He's not your typical "dad"...he's muscular. He doesn't have the fluffy dad body most of my foster dads have had. Standing right next to him is a lady, smiling a fake smile too. Once Annie leaves, I'll see who these people really are.
