Josie's POV

I'm sitting in the waiting room, listening to everyone talking quietly. Suddenly a horrible cry is heard, and I see Mason looking at Liam...Is that Luke?

It was

A few moments later, we see Taylor with his arm wrapped around Luke, basically carrying him into the room. Ellie is so distraught, she's got both of her hands up to her mouth.

Taylor sets Luke down in a chair, and both Ellie and Taylor are trying to calm him down.

I don't think I've ever seen Luke cry before.....Nope, that's not true...I did when Ellie got attacked, and I saw him have puffy eyes after spankings a couple times, but nothing like this. Seeing Luke cry is awful.

Trace stands up and rushes over, and pulls Luke into a huge hug. Luke folds into him and sobs so hard, several random people in the waiting room get up and leave.

Mason looks at Liam and Mr. Chase, and shakes his head. "Damn," he says as he puts his head in his hands.

Mr. Chase is always a dork, and always in a good mood. I happen to glance over and see him wiping a tear off his own cheek.

A while later, between Taylor, Ellie, Trace, and Emma, they get Luke calmed down. Luke and Emma sit against the wall in the back, away from everyone. The rest of us just sit in a group on the opposite side.

I hear Ellie say to Megan: "Emma is still able to calm him. It's unreal."

I look over, and she's right. Emma is saying nothing. All she's doing is sitting next to Luke, and Luke's demeanor is more relaxed.

I look down at my phone, and Aiden is texting me. I grin as I text him back. Once he found out I wasn't going today, he skipped. He's wanting me to go to the movies with him.

"Mason, can I leave?"

Mason was in the middle of talking to Liam, Mr. Chase, and Principal Mills, when he stops and looks at me.

"Uh, what?"

"Aiden didn't go to school today. Can I go hang out with him for a bit?"

All four men are looking at me like I've grown horns.

"No," he says, his face getting WAY mad.

"Why? The doctor said it would be a couple hours. I would be back by then."

"Jocelyn, you're out of school today to be here for Shay. You aren't leaving to hang out with your boyfriend."

"Good to know Aiden skipped school," Lance mutters as he does something on his phone.

I think about arguing, but Mason's face is so mad, I better not try it.

I just slump back in my chair and continue texting.

I'm sitting next to Mr. Chase, and a few minutes later, he leans into me.

"Thought about raiding the vending machine for people. Wanna help?"

Anything to get outta sitting here. I'm already bored.

I nod and stand up, following Mr. Chase out and into the area with the vending machines.

"What do you think people will want?" He asks, looking around.

"It's morning. Probably none of this," I say with an attitude. I feel for Shay. I really do, but this is BORING.

Mr. Chase nods. "You're right. Plan B, let's go."

I follow him without asking questions while we walk to the cafeteria. Once we get in, there's a muffin shop tucked away, and Mr. Chase nods. "Perfect"
