Book:The Resistance
Author- aurorazelaire
Blurb:
Blurb is well-written. It lets us know what to expect from the story. Blurb is a little longer than what I usually prefer, but it is interesting enough to make me want to keep reading. Look out for the fluctuating tenses and spacing of the second paragraph.
I like the ending of the blurb. The question at the end almost has a poetic effect, and creates a definite hook.
Moving towards the story,
Awesome start. Determination flows through that single sentence. Detailing is good. It was easy to visualize the fight scene.
I found myself changing from feeling concerned for that man to being annoyed by him real quick. The switch was so well written. Can easily imagine how annoyed the main lead is in that situation.
Nice cliffhanger at the end of chapter. Made me interested to hurry and read further to see what happens to her.
The back story started out as cute before turning into horror. Can't wait to know the whole story. Why was she different from the sisters? And how did she escape the sacrifice?
Love her attitude. She is fun to read.
The ruined ears have catched my attention. I guess it was done so they could hide their identity.
A community of outcasts. Loved the para. It showed too many things in a few sentences.
She speaks like a true leader.
I usually point out a few lines that I find amazing. However, there are too many of those in this story. Amazingly written dialogues. Just love them.
The attackers are shrewd. Laying low for a few days so everyone gets their guard down. Then attacking from the place everyone thought to be the safest.
The panic and chaos in the situation was described well.
The fact that holding a weapon means nothing if you don't know is shown perfectly. It gave a realistic touch to the story.
The scene of them getting captured and the little girl being shot was really frightening.
Losing trust and hope at the same moment. The guilt and hopelessness was portrayed well. The short poem was heartbreakingly beautiful.
First the currents and then being experimented on. The horrors the Fae are experiencing. The hatred is too huge.
The child really tried to maintain a stern front, but still his innocence flowed through. It was a cute moment amidst all the tragedy.
The trouble of bringing the child in already limited resources, but not having the heart to leave him alone to die. The situation is really tough when practicality and emotions are at other ends.
I have never seen pain described so well. I could literally feel it in my bones.
It was interesting to see how Resistance was formed. The cute joke of being the King and prince, the hard work put behind trying to save their species, their bond; it was beautifully described. Orin really seems like his father figure.
The descriptions of her mind spacing out as she receives the blows were so fantastically penned down.
It's not worth living in fear, but it's worth living if you dream despite the fear eating you alive- Great words🙌🏻🙌🏻.
The new girl sounds like an interesting character. Annoying smartass but efficient, awesome combination.
How convenient that he received Sera as the prisoner to guard for😁. The shock he received upon seeing the tough girl in this state was well portrayed. And the way he didn't stop to strategize felt relatable. No matter how smart, a person's mind can stop working at such a time and they often make impulsive decisions.
Somehow predicted that the other new guard would be helpful. But didn't know that he would turn out to be Sera's known person. The fact that he was a human was a surprise too. The lines he spoke- We all bleed scarlet, were really heart touching at that moment. I can't believe he didn't make it. My heart really broke at the moment, when Ryven was looking for his grin and found his lifeless body instead.
*****
Characterization is done brilliantly. Both the main lead's personalities get across well. They dealt with life as per the circumstances, yet their attitude remained the same until the end. I liked that fact. We feel connected to them as we read. Even the characters with the smallest screen space made a place in my heart. Everyone was so well written.
World building is awesome. The Fae, the humans, the places, the fights; everything is described really well. Information is provided at the right amount of times, without making us confused or giving so many things at once.
Concept is unique and interesting, but more than that the way it is written makes the story much more beautiful. Writing style is beautiful. The words flow so smoothly. It gives off a different kind of enjoyment while reading, like you cannot take your eyes off the story.
Story moves at a perfect pace. There's heart touching moments in almost all the chapters of the story. There wasn't a single dull moment while reading the chapters. The endings of all chapters also urged me to hurry and read further.
There aren't any grammatical mistakes that I could find. Story was perfectly written.
Last words,
Story was an absolute delight to read. Snarky attitude, hilarious comebacks, some awesome platonic bonds, so many heart touching and heart breaking moments, perfect grammar, smooth writing style, awesome characters; the book ticks off everything.
This is definitely one of the best books I have read. Eager for more updates.
Thanks for choosing me. Keep writing such awesome books.
