Narrator pov. In the mountain forest camping area~
The Detective Boys and Agasa were in this forest on a hot summer day to catch beetles.
The real kids started to sing about the kinds of beetles they were hoping to catch while holding the gear for bug catching.
While they were all happy and excited, Irene saw Edogawa sweating and walking slowly from the summer heat, as she was walking beside him behind the kids.
The kids stopped, and he sat against a tree, wiping his forehead, complaining to himself about the heat.
As the kids were now discussing where exactly they should start looking for the insects, Edogawa added, "Moreover, there's garbage everywhere in this mountain," while looking at an empty bottle nearby.
Irene picked it up as Agasa explained, while picking up empty cans and bagging them, "It can't be helped. The people from the village usually take turns cleaning up, but yesterday there was a festival."
Irene took out a water bottle from her bag as Edogawa asked, "Festival?" and she handed it to him while letting Agasa answer.
Edogawa blinked and looked up at her as she gave a smile and said, "Here. For the heat."
He blushed a bit but accepted it and replied, "Thanks," opening it and drinking from it as Agasa continued to explain the festival.
As Agasa pointed out the shrine, Irene also looked over as he explained about it.
Irene started drinking from her own water bottle with a deadpan look as Edogawa realized that Agasa had come here last night.
Agasa got nervous and rubbed the back of his head, and the real kids all looked mad now that he didn't bring them with him.
Irene and Haibara exchanged deadpan glances.
Agasa nervously replied to all the kids' complaints, "We had our reasons, too. Right, Ai-kun?" looking down at Haibara.
She yawned and replied, "Right, I'm sleepy because of it."
As Irene noticed Edogawa's look, she gently bonked him on the head with her water bottle in warning, making him look at her with a (What? It's true!) look in his eyes since he knew she knew what he was thinking
When the conversation went back to how the kids couldn't find any beetles anywhere, Edogawa decided to explain how there wouldn't be any in this area, and they might not catch anything.
