Catching up {6}

AN: The next part. We'll start with that small scene in the cafeteria before going back to the girls in the infirmary. Hope you enjoy it!

Narrator pov. At the cafeteria~

Mouri, Suzuki, and Agasa were with the real kids and Haibara in the queue for the buffet in the cafeteria.

Agasa tried to sneak some roast beef, but Haibara switched it with salad; the two teenage girls sweatdropped at that, giving each other nervous smiles.

Mitsuhiko then turned to Agasa and asked, "Hakase, should we bring Miyuki-san and Irene-chan's meals too? I'm sure they're hungry too."

Agasa replied, "No, we should let the doctors take care of Irene-kun."

Mouri smiled down at him and added, "Miyuki-san said that she would come here herself when she gets hungry later, so don't worry about it."

Mitsuhiko said, "I see..."

Mouri then talked with Suzuki beside her about how they couldn't believe this happened because they had played hide-and-seek.

Genta took this opportunity to ask Mitsuhiko, "Do you think we should tell her now?" in a whisper.

Mitsuhiko replied, "I don't think now is the time to think about that."

Genta replied, "I thought so..."

Then Ayumi pointed out that Edogawa, who was with them, was now missing, making Mouri look around herself.

After Mitsuhiko figured out where he was, Suzuki laughed while Mouri sighed, deciding to let him be since her father was there.

A while later, in the infirmary at sunset, Irene was lying down on the bed and looking up at the ceiling with Miyuki sitting in the chair beside it.

Miyuki asked, "How do you feel now, Sakura-chan?"

Irene smiled softly at her and replied, "A lot better..." She sighed, "The fact that I got it worse because of my smaller size is just so stupid, though."

Miyuki giggled, "Guess you understand a bit of Shinichi's detest to having a kid's body."

Irene giggled back at that.

She then remembered something, "Ah, speaking of which, do you really think we shouldn't tell him anything? He'll get the wrong culprit."

Miyuki leaned back in the chair, crossing her arms, "Technically, he'll only get the murderer of the important people wrong, but he'll still get the guy who got you in this situation right, that will still get us some revenge."

She then added, "That, and you know how Kogoro-san deserves the spotlight for this, his love for Eri-san shines through here, and he deserves to get the culprit on his own for it."

Irene smiled at that, nodding, "That's true..."

Miyuki then brought up something, "By the way, I'm sorry we couldn't hang out that weekend, FBI work is unpredictable sometimes."

Irene blinked before realizing which time she was talking about, the same weekend she spent with Nakamori, "Ah, no, it's alright. Honestly, the result of how I ended up spending it made up for it."

Miyuki blinked and raised an eyebrow, noticing Irene's eyes lighting up as she remembered that weekend, "Okay, now I'm curious. What happened that weekend?"

Irene chuckled and answered, "Well, remember how it was also the same weekend after the one where Kuroba had his Blue Sky heist with Jirokichi-san?"

Miyuki nodded, "Mhm."

Irene continued, "Well, Nakamori-san was ranting about Kid and how much she hated him, like usual, and she seemed pretty stressed because. I asked her why she couldn't hang out with Momoi-san, but it turned out she got sick from the rain."

"And since our plans got cancelled, I offered Nakamori-san to hang out together instead. She happily said yes. She ended up taking us to an amusement park in Ekoda."

Miyuki blinked, "Ekoda has its own amusement park?"

Irene giggled, "Right? I didn't know either. And get this, it's called Ekoda Uptopia."

Miyuki snorted, "That is such a stupid name rhyme, but also charming."

Irene nodded, "I thought the same thing! Anyway, so they had bumper cars and we went to ride those first..."

And this was how the girls finally started catching up on what each was doing when the other was busy during a non-case weekend.

AN: Done! Hope you guys liked it!

Yeah, this was just a wholesome take on the flashback of the Little Ran and Little Shinichi sunset scene, but instead it's Irene and Miyuki catching up since Irene only told Kaito about what happened that weekend.

Both girls agreeing that Kogoro deserves this spotlight is really my own thoughts on it. I mean, it shows how Kogoro can be smart when it comes to his wife and anyone who reminds him of her, why wouldn't I want that to stay? It's cute and cool.
