Narrator pov. Next Friday at school during lunch~
The trio was sitting beside each other as usual.
The real kids were talking about having their own plans with their families this weekend, and that they were heading straight to their homes at the end of school today.
Edogawa then glanced at Irene, who noticed and tilted her head.
He whispered, "Since I don't think anything will happen this weekend, I was wondering, how about we visit Akemi-san's grave? You, me, and Haibara."
Irene blinked at him. It had been a while since she visited the grave.
She noticed Haibara perking up, also able to hear, as she was on Edogawa's other side.
She nodded, "Sure. If Haibara-san feels ready to go."
Haibara looked down at her table before nodding, "We're going."
Irene went to the bathroom to call Kuroba about it.
And so, after school and saying farewell to the real kids without revealing anything, the trio started on their way to the grave.
"She has the wrong name on her grave, by the way," Irene informed, remembering the times she visited.
Haibara nodded, "That's fine, I accepted that it was for the better."
Once they arrive, Irene led the other two to the grave with "Hirota Masami" carved on it.
Irene stepped away to a tree and took out a rock before coming back and placing it face-up.
It had "Miyano Akemi" on it.
"It's a fake rock." Irene said to Haibara's surprised reaction, "And I make sure to hide it in a different place every time so no one notices anything."
Haibara nodded with a slight smile, "Thank you."
Irene nodded back.
With no verbal declaration needed, Irene and Edogawa stood behind Haibara as she stood in front of the grave.
Letting the scientist talk, Irene realized how much had changed between them since the first time.
From Haibara being cold to laughing with her when she still had colors before Miyuki's passing.
'We're friends,' she thought in a bit of a realization, though not feeling anything much.
Haibara then seemed to stop talking to Akemi, instead directing her next words to Irene with the way her head turned toward her, "My name..."
Irene tilted her head, "What about it?"
Haibara turned completely toward her, "You can call me any name you want."
Slight wind picked up then as it ruffled their clothes and hair.
And Irene realized Haibara wasn't taking it back.
She let out a breath and nodded, "Alright, Ai-chan."
Ai smiled slightly.
And Edogawa, watching all this, smiled to himself softly, remembering how patient Irene had been to get this, 'Good for you, Karashima.'
After that, the fake rock was hidden, and Irene bid farewell to her two friends before leaving for the train station.
She already had a good idea of how Kuroba would react to the news she had.
AN: Done! Hope you guys liked it!
Yep, Ai finally gave Irene permission to call her any name she wanted, meaning they're officially friends! Yay!
About time, am I right? :3
And it's cute how Conan is happy for her. ^^
By the way, the fake rock is made by Kaito, since Irene asked him for it to put on the grave.
So what did you guys think? Did you like it? Which part was your favorite? Hope to see your feedback soon!
That's all. See you next chapter!
Stay sweet, my fellow anime lovers!~
