Narrator pov. Continuing~
It took Irene 30 minutes more of just sitting there crying before she was able to move, knowing that it was better not to be seen by the police when they arrived.
She left, after finding the FBI badge and numbly but shakily tucking it into her pocket, not really processing it completely yet, and went to the train station.
She washed her hands there, looking at them without seeing them, and purchased the usual ticket to Ekoda.
The ticket vendor noticed her sudden change, as she was a regular, and was worried, but she wouldn't respond to anything he asked.
She heard the news broadcast about Raiha Pass while waiting for the train.
Along with the broadcast of Miyuki's corpse in the apartment complex.
She blinked slowly, not processing it much.
Riding the train when it arrived, her phone rang.
She didn't answer it, and it went to voicemail after a while, but she didn't care.
Once the train arrived, she got off and went to Kuroba's house.
Once there, she entered, not bothering to greet.
Kuroba still heard her and said softly, "Okaeri. I... I saw the news."
She didn't respond, just stepping further inside until he could see her.
He stood up and stepped over before crouching in front of her, "I'm sorry for your loss..." He said it sincerely, and with a sad expression on his usual goofily smiling face.
She stared at him before he reached over and wrapped his arms around her in a hug, saying softly, "I'm here for you, Thorny." Just like her mother did when Miyuki died the first time.
That seemed to be it. She started to shake before hugging him back tightly, starting to sob before she cried all the tears she realized she'd been holding back with her sudden silence.
He rubbed her back, not saying anything for once as he just held her, as he was more than familiar with the feeling of loss.
Pov Switch. Earlier, when the phone rang~
Jodie had been the one calling, and she hung up when she got no answer, frustrated, "Mou, we needed her to tell us if Shu and Miyuki-chan are really dead so we can confirm it was some plan, but she isn't answering me!"
James replied, "Ma, Miyuki-kun's corpse was confirmed, and Irene-kun is probably on her way home and tired, let's not bother her."
Jodie looked back at the split footage of both news on the TV, now focusing on the one with Akai's burning car.
She then got a different idea, looking to James, "We can confirm things easily if we go to the police department, instead!"
James responded, "But can we confirm when the other body is burnt? If the right hand of the body is still there, we could confirm by matching it to Akai-kun's fingerprints."
Camel said, "Ja, we could match it to Akai-san's fingerprints that are registered at the FBI-"
James interrupted, "(We'd like to match fingerprints, so please lend us his right hand, because he might be one of us FBI agents.)" He turned his head to Camel, "Is that what we're going to say?"
Camel went silent, and James turned back to the screen, "The same goes for Akai-kun's Chevy. I'm sure that his fingerprints would be somewhere on it, but now that it's gone up in flames, it'll be retrieved by the police. We can't tell them to give it to us without giving reasons. It was a good thing that, according to the news, Miyuki-kun's badge wasn't found."
James then pondered if there was a way to match the fingerprints with the body without suspicion, to which Jodie spoke up.
So James drove her to the police station.
Jodie was able to confirm that Miyuki was dead, lying that she had befriended her in America to get Takagi to tell. And that the gun left in the scene didn't have fingerprints, as the person wore gloves.
And the phone ordeal went on as fate would intend it, as Jodie cried in the car, now feeling part of Irene's earlier anguish.
AN: Done! Hope you guys liked it!
Yeah, Irene is going into a bit of shock, good thing Kaito is there and knows how it feels.
Proof he can be a good brother when he has to be.
Poor her and Jodie, though.
Yeah, the badge thing was Irene's rational thinking working on the side while she processes the death. Now Miyuki's death won't risk the FBI's cover.
So what did you guys think? Did you like it? Which part was your favorite? Hope to see your feedback soon!
That's all. See you next chapter!
Stay sweet, my fellow anime lovers!~
