Narrator pov. At the fishing port~

The fish all the Detective Boys caught ended up around 26, adding Irene's portion.

Edogawa glanced toward her to see that she was packing up her things and fishing equipment instead of joining the conversation.

Ejiri then told the kids to do the same thing as the ship that would take them home was arriving.

When it turned out Agasa wasn't on the ship, but instead it was Subaru, Edogawa noticed Haibara glancing toward Irene, who gave her a nod without looking at her.

Haibara took a deep breath and let it out slowly to calm down, which Edogawa had to blink at because he didn't know that the girls talked about Subaru.

When helped to board the ship, Irene let the adults help her in before sitting by the edge, looking down at the sea with her usual expression as the kids talked with Subaru, assuring them that he would cook the fish.

When the Ikakku rock story was talked about, Edogawa glanced toward Irene again, then toward his own bag.

He had been thinking about that last Kid heist for a while. There was some thought she was helping Kid, especially if he was right about her being the one who took the bug off him.

They arrived at the rock, and he decided to drop it, getting off with the others.

When they decided to take a picture with the sunset behind them, Irene ended up standing on the other side of Ayumi.

When Subaru noticed the carvings, Irene walked off as Genta discovered the diving fin stuck between the rocks.

Edogawa realized and immediately ran in the direction Irene went, calling out, "Midorikawa!"

"Over here," she replied from somewhere ahead, and he found her looking down at the corpse.

After confirming this was murder, Jugo and the police force were called to the rock.

Irene had stayed mostly to the side this time, Edogawa glancing at her as she kept her gaze at the sea.

When the suspects brought themselves over, Irene glanced toward Aosato before looking at the carved code.

After a second of thinking, she looked again before pointing out, "Oniisans all have the same diver's watch as Ojosama."

That made Edogawa look over in surprise, and Yasuji, who she was looking at the wrist of, said, "Yeah, she made it for us."

When the full name on the watch was revealed, Irene softly said, "Akamine Angel Fish Club sounds different without Fish in it."

As expected, both Edogawa and Subaru paused, while the real kids agreed.

After stopping Jugo from ordering his subordinates to take the body to land, the conversation with the suspects began as Subaru took the lead, with Edogawa revealing Aosato.

When Aosato moved toward them, Irene grabbed Ayumi by the wrist and pulled her away, her leg sticking out with the perfect momentum to trip the idiot to the sea instead.

As he fell, Irene let go of Ayumi, who looked at her in awe, and Edogawa ran over in worry, "Midorikawa, Ayumi-chan, are you both okay?"

Ayumi nodded, "Un, Irene-chan saved me!"

Subaru gave Irene a nod before he crouched by the spot and reached in to pull Aosato out as he caught himself before falling too deep in.

As Jugo took care of arresting him, they all boarded their ship and left the rock to go back to land.

Edogawa had taken the moment while boarding back on to decide that he wasn't going to act on his suspicion of Irene's connection to Kid.

'She's going through a lot and has lost her emotions again, I'm pretty sure confronting her about this would just be like how I yelled at her during Seiji-san's case, which would be stupid,' he thought to himself.

'It might not have been my fault this time, and I didn't do anything after that to hurt her, but I want to see her smile like before; confronting her won't do it.'

He looked through his bag for what he brought with him, having thought about this for a while, 'Instead...'

His arms behind his back, he approached her while the others were away, still being careful by saying, "Midorikawa."

She looked up at him while sitting on the edge, tilting her head with her expression unchanging, "Hai?"

He brought his arms forward to reveal he was holding a book, a Holmes book to be exact, as he held it out, "Here, I hope this helps you feel better."  'Or just feel again,' he added in his head, "Consider it like a medal for keeping Ayumi from danger earlier."

Irene stared, before reaching over and taking the book from him, "This is..."

It was the Valley of Fear, the same book she read at his house, the same book that was her favorite in the series.

"I bought it recently, since I figured you don't have your own copy." He explained, trying to play it off, although he was nervous.

Irene stared at the book for a few seconds before holding it close to her chest, remembering the memory of Miyuki giving her the first copy she had read, a flicker coming and going in her eyes.

Edogawa's eyes widened at the reaction, and he barely registered her soft but still emotionless, "Arigato."

But he did, and nodded slowly while feeling a bit of relief, "No problem..."

That was when he knew he had made the right choice.

He didn't approach her as a detective...

But as a friend.

AN: Done! Hope you guys liked it!

Irene got a moment to shine by stopping Ayumi from being taken hostage! That's my girl. UwU

Yep, Conan suspects it, but he won't pry about it.

Not him saying he didn't hurt her after Seiji. (Who's gonna tell him...)

Awww, he gave her a book to try and get her to react!

The hug said more than enough for now.

By the way, I should've said this two weeks ago, but I started college again. It's only on Monday and Thursday, but the hours are long, so if you noticed fewer updates, you can say that's why.

So what did you guys think? Did you like it? Which part was your favorite? Hope to see your feedback soon!

That's all. See you next chapter!

Stay sweet, my fellow anime lovers!~
