Narrator pov. Arriving at the tower~

Irene arrived and then entered the tower away from the view of the festival's broadcast cameras and the tower staff before going up to the observatory.

Once there, Irene walked over to where Mizutani was standing by the window and said, "Don't do it," bluntly as usual.

Mizutani turned around, surprised, "Eh?"

Irene kept her gaze up at him, "I'm here on behalf of Mouri-tantei's assistant, who told me everything."

She made sure to keep an eye on the corner where the real culprit would come from while keeping her attention on Mizutani as she added, "Eight people you couldn't forgive with only one left... You're the last one, aren't you, Mizutani-san?"

Mizutani's face softened as he drank some of his wine.

Irene continued, "The shock and the anger you felt when you learned how Nanako-san died... I understand part of it."

She remembered her last moments while she had colors again, the feelings she had to deal with from Miyuki's death that she was relieved from, now that she had reverted to her colorless state.

Mizutani looked surprised when he sensed her sincerity despite the emotionless tone.

She continued, "You went to the hotel in Kyoto to investigate those other 7 people because of those feelings."

Mizutani finally said something as he went to the table and poured himself more wine, "Just as you said, little girl." he walked back to the window, "On that fateful day 2 years ago, if I hadn't gone to meet my friend, Nana wouldn't have died."

He closed his eyes, smiling, "When I think of that," his smile turned sad as he looked down at her, "I can't forgive myself."

Irene nodded, "I understand that." and she really did, she understood the feeling of not being able to forgive yourself because of losing someone close you could've saved, "But you shouldn't commit suicide."

She remembered opening the kitchen drawer and looking at the knives.

She looked back at Mizutani, "If you do it, especially from here, that means you're murdering-"

Mizutani cut her off, "I know that!" he then turned to the window, "I know that, but... I can't bear to live in a world without Nana any longer..."

Irene's bangs covered her emotionless expression as she remembered the feeling of holding the knife, having had similar thoughts in her head then. Her ears caught the sound of approaching footsteps.

Mizutani then turned to the side and looked at the floor, "Not to mention, I'll get a death sentence anyway."

Irene shook her head and replied, "No, you won't." he turned to her, "You didn't kill anyone. Someone asked you to take the guilt on yourself and commit suicide in exchange for him killing those 7 people."

She added, "I understand wanting to take responsibility for her death, but the one the other person really wants to kill out of hate is you."

Mizutani let out an "Eh?" in surprise.

Irene nodded and continued, "Because you were the one who took away his beloved Imouto."

She turned her gaze to the side just as the mentioned man walked closer to the light, "As that other person is Nanako-san's Oniisan, Honjo Kazuki."

Kazuki stopped just as he was visible in the light, which surprised Mizutani to see him, "O-Oniisan!"

AN: Done! Hope you guys liked it!

Yeah, this just shows how Irene replacing Conan in the interaction with Mizutani went.

Since she understands Mizutani more than Conan did, this is how different it felt, even if it had the same result of stalling him until Kazuki came.

The next part would probably be when Irish shows up, but we'll see.
