Narrator pov. At the Kanno apartment~

Ayumi had asked Irene to walk with the detective boys after school this time to help with setting up the festival dolls and she agreed, called Kuroba to say that she'd be home late since she was hanging out with them, and then came along, now the dolls were being set up on the stair stand.

Ayumi scolded Genta when he put the archer doll in the wrong step on the stand before Edogawa told Genta where the ministers of left and right should be put, Irene just put the dolls she had picked up on their spots, which Ayumi had explained earlier.

When Haibara approached Edogawa about how he knew this despite being a boy, Irene didn't have any dolls next to her and had to get to their side so Edogawa took the chance to ask her, "Did you get to do this when you were a kid, Karashima?"

Irene nodded slowly, feeling nostalgic, "Un, but only around the time Miyuki was still around since her parents had a set, my parents never brought their set with them to America and I only knew about this tradition from... this." she gestured to the scene before looking down and picking up a doll from one of the last boxes, "After everyone died though... I forgot all about it."

She walked back to the stand after that sad revelation, going quiet as she let Edogawa and Haibara talk some more, not noticing that Haibara seemed surprised at what she said since she never heard about her past fully yet like Edogawa.

They then continued setting up the dolls until they were all done and Ayumi called Setsuko, the wife, over to check the results.

After that, Ayumi wanted to take a picture using her father's camera, something that made Irene and Haibara stare a bit in jealousy but they stayed silent before sitting with the others for the photo Setsuko would take.

When Tsumagari and Mie rang the doorbell just after the photo was taken, they all took the time to look at the dolls, Irene staring at the musicians especially since they reminded her of something, before the two adults walked in with Setsuko.

After the small misunderstanding of the kids thinking that Tsumagari wanted the dolls when he actually wanted the scroll, he told Setsuko how expensive the scroll was and Mie started trying to convince her to let the scroll go before grandma Yayoi walked in and insisted it wasn't for sale.

When Tsumagari and Mie left the room, Edogawa told everyone to pack the dolls back up so they could also leave before Yayoi started being nostalgic about the dolls, Setsuko asked Ayumi if the dolls could stay longer for Yayoi's sake which Ayumi accepted and asked if they could stay longer in exchange.

When Setsuko offered for Yayoi to make them some sweet sake to drink since they were staying, Yayoi said that they were out of one of the ingredients for it, sake lees, and Setsuko felt dejected since she had to leave soon and couldn't go buy it so Ayumi offered that they go buy it since the store was nearby.

While at the store, Haibara noticed Irene staring at a family of three in jealousy and nostalgia, Edogawa noticed as well and approached, placing a hand on her shoulder to get her to look at him before the kids got what they needed and they all left the store.

They ran into Mie at the hallway to the apartment and he explained that nobody seemed to be home which made them check for themselves and they found out that, while nobody answered the doorbell, the door was unlocked so they all walked in.

After some looking around for Yayoi and seeing the mess, they didn't find her, instead found out that the scroll was missing.

After Yayoi appeared, Setsuko came back for her purse and saw the mess, and her scream brought Tsumagari back over, the police were called and the investigation then deduction started.

When Edogawa started to explain why the dolls were now slightly out of place compared to earlier, Irene poked his arm and gestured to the stairs, he blinked before he realized it so he started to explain what actually happened.

When Mitsuhiko and Genta commented to him about how his childish act around adults was creepy, Irene snorted, looking away when she felt him staring as he heard her but the deduction continued.

The scroll was found, Yayoi explained her reason, Tsumagari ran out now too scared to buy it, and the police left without reporting the case at all so Yayoi was safe and Ayumi decided to let the dolls stay here while Edogawa hung the scroll back.

Getting an idea at seeing the dolls on the ground, Irene called out, "Ne." the others looked at her, "About the dolls, can only Ayumi-chan, Haibara-san, and I put them back?" she smiled, "I'm sure you boys are tired from moving them earlier and it's supposed to be only girls doing this as it's girls' day so... Onegai ne?"

Her smile made Edogawa blush and he replied, "S-Sure..." with a nod while the two boys were more than happy with the offer, Ayumi didn't mind while Haibara just stayed silent.

So the three girls worked together to place the red felt back on the stairs then put the dolls back in their spots on the stand, Ayumi had an innocent smile on her face while Irene and Haibara felt happy for a different reason, they even noticed each other's looks but decided not to comment.

And this was how Girls' Day brought the girls closer.

AN: Done! Hope you guys liked it!

So Ai finally gets to hear more about Irene's past when she's the only one out of the loop about it, and now she feels more connected to her.

Aww, they placed the dolls together and got closer! Now that's cute.

Yeah, nothing much changed, except that the sunset scene didn't happen, but this was just to show them getting closer.

Wonder how much longer it'll take until Ai feels comfortable with being friends with Irene... :3

So what did you guys think? Did you like it? Which part was your favorite? Hope to see your feedback soon!

That's all. See you next chapter!

Stay sweet my fellow anime lovers!~
