A buffet interrupted (Red and Black Clash 1)

AN: Yep, we're now onto this arc! It's been a week since Movie 12 here. Hope you all enjoy the first part!

Narrator pov. On the way to New Beika Hotel~

Irene was walking with the Detective Boys and Agasa to the buffet. 

She heard from Miyuki how the plan to get Kir back in the Organization had just happened.

She had wondered if Miyuki got to do anything, and Miyuki explained that she was one of the spare drivers, knowing that there was no way she could take Camel's spot in the plan. Irene was proud of her regardless.

She had also heard from Edogawa about what Miyuki did to catch the bombing culprit from the organ concert incident, and she was even prouder of her.

'Wish I got to see it...' she thought to herself, hearing Edogawa tell Haibara about the Kir situation from beside her as they all walked behind the others.

When Haibara expressed wanting to meet Akai, Irene remembered what was supposed to happen today, 'I hope that nothing changes today for the worse... I'd like everything to go the way it should be when I'm not trying to change it for once. Especially because this is another organization involved situation, which I can't dare to join...'

After the rest of the conversation ended, they finally entered the hotel and went to the all-you-can-eat buffet.

Irene was still a bit surprised that even guests from outside the hotel could eat from this, but knowing that Japan operated differently, she just shrugged it off.

As expected, the police arrived only a minute or two later, and Edogawa called out to Takagi when he ran by, which was when they heard about the murder that had happened on another floor.

So after Edogawa pointed out the hints that would help in finding possible culprits, which Takagi, as always, followed without remembering that he was listening to a kid, they all followed Takagi and the two suspects to the floor where the scene was.

When Megure scolded Takagi for once again telling case details to a citizen, Irene deadpanned at Edogawa's grin, 'He doesn't realize it, but he sometimes really is a kid...'

Chiba then came with a certain agent as a suspect, and Irene sighed as Edogawa was shocked to see Camel.

Irene's eyebrow twitched as she remembered what would be done to excuse him, 'I'd rather Miyuki come instead of Jodie-sensei to avoid that awkwardness... Then again, I don't know what other ideas Miyu-chan can come up with...'

When Camel's turn to be interrogated about what he was doing running down the stairs, Irene covered her face in her hands when he mentioned his job.

Irene stepped away when Mitsuhiko started talking, embarrassed.

When Genta said the comment about Camel's face, she had to speak up in a deadpan, "Chotto, Genta-kun, that's not even a valid reason. Some killers look normal, or did you forget the cases when someone nice we met turned out to be a killer?"

Genta shut up and laughed nervously at that.

She didn't try to say anything to Haibara's comment, knowing that it was technically true.

Irene covered Edogawa's mouth when he went to speak up, signalling him to call with her other hand by making a phone sign, which he nodded before she let go, and he left to do just that.

AN: Done! Hope you guys liked it!

Yeah, nothing much happened, but it is the beginning of a new arc. It will get more interesting in the next chapter!

I honestly understand Irene's hope that nothing changes this time, too many new events have happened.

But well, the Kir thing happened smoothly, so there should be nothing to worry about!
