Amy's pov:

Danny had woken up a few times the past few hours, but every time he stayed awake for a few minutes before dropping off to sleep again. He doesn't seem to remember what happened yet, because every time he is awake he looks confused around him and talks about random stuff. Like he does when he's drunk.

He's been completely checked over by a doctor and several nurses, but nobody could find anything major apart from a low blood pressure, so we guess that that's the reason that he fainted. I've also been told that he's allowed to go home when he wakes up properly, which I am glad about, cause I know how much he hates being stuck in hospital.

Glen had brought Rachel back home an hour ago so she could unpack her suitcase, but he promised he'd come back soon so he could help be to get Dan back home.

I shifted in the uncomfortable plastic chair while I remained watching Dan. He seemed quite peaceful, he's been hooked off most of the machines over the last hours. He only got an infusion in his hand to give him medication and some pain relief, so it doesn't look as bad anymore as when I first saw him. The only downside is that he will need a lot of rest, and knowing Danny, he doesn't want that cause he wants to go to the studio to work on the album. I just hope that he won't be too stubborn and just listen to the doctors orders for once.

"Hey." Glen said knocking softly on the door while walking in.

"Hi." I said looking up from Dan.

"How is he?" He asked, handing me a cup of tea.

"He's only woken up once, right after you left." I replied while Glen sat down next to me. He nodded in reply, sipping from his cup. We just sat chatting while waiting for Dan to wake up and get him home.

An hour and a half later, I heard a grumbling noise coming from Dan and when I looked in his direction he slowly opened his eyes.

"Hey baby." I said, softly stroking his hair out of his forehead. Glen said he was going to get a nurse before he stood up and walked out of the room, leaving me alone with Dan.

"How are you feeling?" I asked once he seemed a little bit brighter. He mumbled something understandable in reply so I dropped it, deciding to question him later since he's still looking pretty tired.

Glen came back with a nurse a few minutes later who started to check Dan over once again.

"Do you remember what happened, Mr O'Donoghue?" She asked him. Dan looked from her to me and back to her before slowly shaking his head.

"It's pretty normal that he doesn't remember what happened because of the concussion, but it will probably come back soon." The nurse said turning to me. I nodded in reply before she started explaining the medication he has to take and that I have to wake him up at night because of the concussion. Another thing he won't enjoy.

After she'd explained everything and taken the infusion out of his hand, I helped her to dress Dan in the clothes Glen had brought since Dan came in in just his boxers. We first helped him into a pair of sweatpants before slowly sitting him up because of his back and put his t-shirt on. Once he was dressed I went to get the car while Glen helped him into a wheelchair.

Just as I stopped the car right in front of the entrance Glen wheeled Dan outside. I got out and opened the door while Glen helped Dan inside. Once Glen was sitting on the backseat I started the engine and made our way back home. When we were home we repeated the same process with Glen helping Dan out of the car and brining him to our bed. It was a bit of a struggle getting him up the stairs, but we managed. Once he was lying in bed I tucked him in like a child and kissed him softly on his cheek. He hasn't said much but we decided to leave him to get some sleep. I softly closed the door behind me before we made our way downstairs.

"Are you sure you'll be OK alone with Dan and the girls?" Glen asked before opening the front door.

"Yeah, don't worry." I said reassuring him.

"You know you can call me when something happens, right?"

"I know, but we'll be OK."

"Alright." He said giving in and opened the front door, I waved him goodbye before I made my way to the living room and crashed on the couch.

I woke up from an annoying sound, it took me a few seconds to realize that it was the doorbell ringing. I quickly sat up, remembering that I had texted Jess that I was back and that she could bring Ava and Liz back. I got up from the couch and made my way to the door before opening it.

"Sorry, I fell asleep." I said quickly apologizing.

"Don't worry." Jess said smiling understandably. I took Liz from her while Ava had already ran off to the living room.

"Tea?" I asked Jess.

"Yeah, thanks." She said coming inside and closing the door behind her. I put Liz down in her bouncer in the living room before I made my way to the kitchen to make some tea.

"Is Danny okay?" Jess asked following me.

"He's got a concussion, broken arm and broken vertebrae." I replied while filling the kettle.

"Do they know how it happened?" She asked, taking out two mugs.

"They couldn't find anything apart from a low blood pressure so they think he fainted because of that and just happened to be at the top of the stairs." I replied. Jess nodded while I poured the boiling water into the mugs.

Jess stayed the rest of the day and offered to make dinner, which I accepted gratefully. While Jess was cooking I made my way upstairs to check on Dan. When I opened the door to our bedroom I found Dan lying awake.

"Hey." I said walking to his side of the bed.

"Hey." He replied, which surprised me a little bit since he hasn't really replied to anything before.

"How are you feeling?" I asked, sitting down on the edge of the bed.

"My back and head hurts." He replied slowly, taking my hand with his good one.

"Mummy?" Ava asked standing in the doorframe before I could reply.

"Yes sweetheart?" I asked looking in her direction.

"Why is daddy in bed?" She asked looking confused.

"Because daddy isn't feeling too well." I replied and lifted her on my lap when she walked over to us. I looked down at Dan and saw that a small smile was tugging at his lips when he saw his daughter.

"Can I make daddy better?" She asked.

"You can try..." Dan said. She quickly got off my lap and ran to her bedroom before she came back with two stuffed animals, her bunny and the elephant. She climbed onto the bed and crawled over to Dan, cuddling into his side. Dan winced in pain, and even though he tried to hide it I noticed it.

"Careful baby." I said and lifted Ava up before I placed her on the other side of Dan so she was lying against his not-broken arm. She placed the elephant on his chest and started singing,

"Twinkle twinkle little star,

How I wonder what you are,

Up above she world so high..."

Dan looked in awe at his daughter so I decided to just leave them alone. I carefully left the room without Ava noticing because she was too busy singing to her daddy.
