Danny's pov:
I was still sitting next to Am with Jamie in my arms. I was so mesmerized by our baby boy that I didn't even notice several doctors running in and surrounding Amy. I was pulled out of my own little bubble when I was pushed aside by one doctor. When I looked up I realized that Am's head had fallen to the side, looking scarily pale and her eyes were closed.
"What's going on?" I asked panicked while quickly standing up from my chair.
Instead of being given an answer, I was pushed out of the room before they closed the door right after me. I stood looking at the closed door for a few moments, trying to digest what was going on. How the fuck did I not notice that something happened to Amy?!
I was shaking so badly that I was having a hard time trying not to drop Jamie. After a few moments I pulled my phone from my pocket and dialed Mark's number.
"Hey man, how are you?" He asked once he picked up.
"Mark?" I said, my voice own sounding strange to me.
"Danny what is going on?" He asked, immediately noticing something was up.
"Amy just gave birth b-but something happened and... And they won't let me in or tell me what's going on. Can you come over please?" I told him, my voice breaking as I asked him to come over.
"I'm on my way." He said before hanging up.
I took a few deep breaths, trying to stop myself from crying. I looked down at Jamie and realized he'd woken up. He was just staring at me without making a sound, almost as if he knew I couldn't handle a crying baby right now.
By the time Mark arrived -which was after only ten minutes- I was taken to another room by a nurse. So I didn't have to sit in the waiting room with a newborn baby.
"What happened?" He asked when he walked in, closely followed by Rina.
"I don't know." I whispered while Mark wrapped me in a hug.
"I was looking at Jamie and the next thing I knew was Amy being surrounded by doctors, looking scarily pale while I was being pushed out of the room." I explained once we pulled out of the hug.
"He's called Jamie?" Mark asked with a small smile.
"Yeah." I answered, my own lips curling into a small smile for a second as well.
"Amy is strong, Dan. You know that too." He said while placing his hand on my shoulder.
I just nodded in reply, not trusting myself to speak right now without crying.
"Now show me your son." Rina said, trying to take my mind of things for a second.
I walked over to the cot where he was laying before lifting him out of it.
"Awh, look how small he is." Rina said once she saw him. I smiled with pride and stroked my hand over his tiny head. He had a few dark hairs and I couldn't help but feel proud that he has my hair colour. Ava and Liz both have dark blonde hair, which is a mix of my dark colored hair and Amy's blonde hair I guess. But Jamie definitely has my hair colour.
Mark was holding Jamie when a doctor walked into the room.
"Mr O'Donoghue?" He asked, causing me to look up from my son.
"Yeah?" I asked, my heart racing.
"Your wife has lost a lot of blood while giving birth, so we had to give her a blood transfusion. She is a little bit weak right now, but all right. We'd like to keep her here for a little longer so we can keep an eye on her." He explained.
"But she is OK?" I asked, only half digesting what he was saying.
"She is." He confirmed.
"Can I see her?" I asked, wanting to get to her as quick as possible.
"Yes. But like a said, she's still a little bit weak so take it easy." He said before leaving the room.
I sighed in relief before making my way back to Am, Mark and Rina following me behind.
"You scared me." I said as I walked into the room. I walked over to my wife before leaning down and pecking her lips softly.
"You did have us worried there." Rina said before hugging Am carefully.
"I'm sorry." Am replied while I took her hand in mine.
Mark, who was still holding Jamie said,
"Congratulations with your beautiful son." Before handing him back to Amy.
"Thank you." She said smiling while settling Jamie in her arms.
We sat chatting for a while, now being able to celebrate the birth of our son now that Amy was all right.
"So, is your little family now complete?" Mark asked chuckling.
"We'll see." I replied as I looked at Jamie, who was asleep once again.
"Probably yes, though." Am said laughing.
Mark and Rina joined us for a little longer until they decided to leave, to give Am some rest. I hugged them both and they said bye to Amy and Jamie before leaving the room.
"How are you feeling now?" I asked as I sat down at the edge of the bed.
"Tired. But fine I guess." She replied shrugging.
"Maybe you should take a nap?" I asked while running my hand through her hair. She agreed so I took Jamie from her and placed him in his cot before I sat back down next to Am. She lay down on her side and I ran my fingers softly up and down over her back, sending her to sleep.
After an hour and a half, Jamie woke up and started crying. I lifted him from his cot and tried to calm him down. I looked over at Amy, to see if she was sleeping through this but I found her awake.
"I think he's hungry." She said while sitting up. I nodded in agreement before handing him over to Am who started feeding him.
"What about you, are you hungry as well?" I asked while I watched the two of them.
"Hmm, a little bit yeah." She replied nodding.
"Shall I get something to eat?" I asked, already standing up. Am agreed so I quickly kissed her before leaving the hospital to get us something to eat.
Half an hour later, I walked back into the room carrying our food in a plastic bag.
"I got sushi, seeing as you couldn't have it for nine months, I thought I'd spoil you now." I said as I placed the bag at the table next to Am's bed.
"Amazing." She replied smiling.
Am groaned when she took the first bite, making me laugh.
"You are the best." She said once she'd swallowed it.
"Thanks." I replied smirking before leaning over to peck her lips.
