Amy's pov:

I was still sitting in the same position as a few hours ago. I'd only gotten up once to get some coffee, but that had now gone stone cold without me taking a single sip of it. I put the cup down on the floor next to me and sighed to myself, running my hand over my face in exhaustion.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw the door open but I didn't pay it any further attention cause every time the door opened over the last few hours I hoped it would be a doctor or nurse with some news about Dan, but I've heard nothing yet. I flinched when I felt an arm wrap around me before I looked up and saw Rachel sitting on the chair next to me with her arm around me. She didn't say anything and just pulled me into her, hugging me close.

"Jess called me and told me what happened, so I took the first plane back." She whispered, and I looked at the suitcase that was standing next to her. I knew that Rachel had to go to Amsterdam for work for a few days, so I would have understood it if she wouldn't come, but right now, I'm extremely grateful that's she's here right now.

"Thank you..." I whispered barely audible, wiping the tears that were treating to fall roughly away with my sleeve.

"Anytime." She replied, rubbing her hand soothingly over my back. I don't know how long we sat like that, and I didn't care either because I felt safe in her embrace. But after a while I really needed to go to the toilet, so I unwrapped myself from her arms and stood up.

I walked through the endless corridors trying to find a bathroom. Finally, after a while I found a sign with a toilet on it so I started walking in that direction. I was almost there when three nurses came in my direction wheeling a bed to somewhere. I stepped aside with my back against the wall to let them pass, one of the nurses smiled as a thank you and I flashed her a faint smile as well before I looked down at the person in the bed. It was a man with messy dark hair and a thick white bandage wrapped around his head, he was incredibly pale and was hooked up to all kind of wires.

Just as they had passed me and I entered the bathroom I realized it was I Danny who was lying in that bed.

"Wait!" I shouted running out of the bathroom and turned around the corner I saw them just disappear. The nurses didn't seem to realize that I was shouting at them so they just continued to wherever they were going.

"Please stop!" I shouted when I saw them getting into the elevator. I ran as fast as I could towards the elevator and tried to stop the doors from closing my sticking my hand in between them but I was too late and the doors closed right before I reached it. I reached over and started pressing the button to call a lift hoping the doors Dan just disappeared behind would open again, but they didn't.

I looked to my right where I saw the staircase and made my way to them, but as I reached them I realized that I didn't know whether they had taken him up or down. Sighing, I turned around and started making my way back to the waiting room where Rachel was waiting for me.

"I thought you got lost." Rachel said chuckling when I walked in.

"I saw Dan." I said, sitting down.

"Really?" She asked surprised.

"Yeah, he got wheeled past me in the corridor so I tried to follow them but they disappeared into the elevator." I explained, looking down at my feet.

"Someone will come soon to update you about him, I'm sure." She said, trying to reassure me. I nodded slowly in reply, doubting it since nobody has told me anything since I'm here. We sat in silence until Rachel's phone started ringing, she took it out and I saw that 'Glen❤️' was calling. She pressed the phone to her ear and I heard her telling Glen that she was sitting with me in the hospital, and that we hadn't heard anything yet. She pulled her phone away from her ear for a second and looked at me before asking,

"Do you want Glen to come over?"

I shrugged my shoulders in reply, letting her decide. She nodded before putting the phone to her ear. I couldn't make out whether Glen will be coming over or not, but I guess I'll find out soon. They talked for a few moments longer until they hung up and Rachel put her phone away again.

"Glen will be here soon." She said and took my hands in hers, slowly releasing my fingers from the fists they were balled into. I looked down and saw that my knuckles had gone white from having my hands squeezed into fists but I didn't really care, I just wanted to know what was going on with Dan.

I don't know what it is with Rachel, but she has some sort of superpower that as soon as she touches you, she makes your whole body relax and stops you worrying. The thing Glen does with words, always having advice and putting things in perspective, Rachel does that with her touch. Guess they're a match made in heaven, right?

Just like every other time, I felt the worry wash away and my body relax while Rachel held my hands in hers, running her thumb over the back of my hand. I squeezed her hands softly to say thank you and she smiled at me in reply, letting me know that she knew what I meant and that it was okay.

Fifteen minutes later, the door opened again and Glen walked in in a pair of sweatpants and a t-shirt. Without saying anything he made his way over to me and pulled me into a hug before he sat down next to me. I was looking at the clock hanging on the wall, watching the minutes tick by.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, a nurse walked in and called my name.

"Yeah?" I asked looking in her direction.

"You can come and see Mr O'Donoghue-" She started.

"-Is he okay?" I interrupted her.

"He's got a heavy concussion, three broken vertebrae, a broken arm and he had a small internal bleeding that we had to stop- which went successful, so he will be okay." She said like she just summed up the groceries she had to buy. I nodded slowly in reply taking in the things she'd just said before we followed her to Dan.

After a while we stopped in front of a door and she opened it for us, letting us in. I made my way over to Dan who was hooked up to several machines, his eyes were closed but I could see his chest rise and fall and hear his steady heartbeat which was a relief. I sat down on a chair beside him and took his left hand in mine -since his right one was covered in gypsum- and pressed a soft kiss against his knuckles.
