Danny's pov:
We had just finished a long day of rehearsals and Glen had offered me a lift back.
Amy and I are still not back together, and it's been two and a half weeks since I moved out. I got sick of the hotel I was staying in pretty quick so I am now renting a small apartment which is filled with leftover furniture from Mark, Glen and Rachel. I'm not bothered to buy new stuff cause I'm still trying to get back with Am.
"Ready?" Glen asked waiting for me.
"Yeah." I answered and quickly gathered my stuff before following Glen out.
It was pouring rain when we walked out so I quickly pulled my hood up before running to the car.
Talking about rain, our song Rain actually describes my life really well right now. Not only because it's been raining a lot the last couple of days, but it also describes the state of my relationship right now. Even though I'm the only one who fucked it up, instead of us both...
Glen started the engine while I was trying to remember when was the last time I went grocery shopping, not sure if I had any food to make dinner with tonight.
"Have you heard anything from Amy yet?" Glen asked while stopping at a red traffic light.
"Not really. Pretty much all the contact we have is about the girls, when who is looking after them, stuff like that." I replied sighing as I felt that familiar pain in my chest once again. As if being apart from Am wasn't hard enough already, I also have to miss my two daughters. I speak to them on a daily basis over the phone and I try to drop by as much as I can or I look after them when Am has to work. But it just hurts so much having to leave them behind. I would love to have them stay over every now and then, but there isn't much room in my current apartment and I don't want them having to move constantly, especially since they're still so young.
Glen nodded in reply, knowing what it feels like having to miss a kid.
"Just don't give up on her yet." He said while focussing back on the road.
"I wo- STOP!!" I shouted causing Glen so slam his foot on the brake.
"What the fuck!?" Glen asked shocked when we came to a halt.
I didn't even answer him, I had already opened the door and jumped out of the car.
"Amy!" I shouted over the pouring rain when I saw the woman I would recognize everywhere.
She turned around at the sound of her name while I ran in her direction.
"What are you doing here?" I asked once I was standing in front of her.
"My dad flew over for a couple of days to look after the girls, so I decided to go for a long walk." She replied nodding down at Lola who was standing at her side.
"In this weather?" I replied, almost having to shout to even hear myself.
She just shrugged while brushing a wet strand of hair out of her face.
"Come with me, it's another 45 minutes at least to get home. I'm not letting you walk home in weather like this." I said and took her hand guiding her to Glen's car- not taking 'no' as an answer.
"Hey." Glen said slightly surprised while I joined Am on the backseat.
"Hey." Am replied flashing Glen a quick smile.
"We can go now. I'm taking Am with me to mine." I told Glen.
Glen dropped us off in front of the entrance of the flat before he drove off. I held the door open while Am walked in before we made our way to the third floor. I took my keys out of my pocket, letting us in.
"You can have a shower to warm up if you want?" I offered while switching the lights on.
"Thanks." She replied nodding before I told her where the bathroom was.
While I heard the shower running in the bathroom I flicked the kettle on to make us tea. While waiting for the water to boil I made my way to my bedroom to change into something dry as well. As I was looking through my clothes I realized I was almost running out of clean ones. I remembered the full laundry basked with clean clothes that only had to be folded and some of them ironed and realized I'd better do it soon.
After I'd poured two cups of tea I decided to make a start with the laundry. I lifted the basket onto the table and took out the items that had to be ironed.
Once I was halfway through my first shirt Am came walking into the living room covered in just a small towel, which barely covered anything. I was slightly distracted by her beautiful long legs until she spoke up,
"Do you have some dry clothes I can borrow?" She asked chucking.
"Yeah of course." I replied.
"What are you doing?" Am asked confused as she noticed the iron board.
"Ironing."
"Yeah but you do know you have to turn it on, right?" She said laughing before plugging it in.
I blushed slightly and quickly changed the subject saying,
"I'll get you some clothes." Before walking to the bedroom.
I took a pair of sweatpants and a sweater before making my way back to the living room.
"Here." I said handing her my clothes.
"Thanks." She said before disappearing into the bathroom once again.
A few minutes later we were sitting in silence on the couch sipping our tea while watching some lame TV show.
"I know it's late to say this, but I'm really sor-" I started.
"-I know you are." She interrupted me. I just looked at her, not knowing what to say now.
"But I really am sorry." I whispered when none of us said anything.
"Do you still love me?" I asked cautiously.
"Of course." She replied without thinking for a second.
"We've been together for years, we're married and we have two daughters. That doesn't just disappear in a week or so." She added.
"But...?" I said, sensing a but.
"But I don't know if I can still trust you." She whispered.
"You can trust me." I said, taking both her hands in mine.
"How do you know? How do you know it won't happen again?"
"It won't happen again, I've learnt my lesson."
"Yeah but it happened twice with the same girl before you learnt that lesson."
My mind was racing, thinking of something to say to that but I couldn't think of anything cause -unfortunately- what she said was true.
I realized I had to try really hard to get things back to how they were, but I was willing to do anything to get my little family back together.
