Yet another prompt from the same list as the last two. I really like them. Also couldn't think of a name, so oh well

When the bell rang to signal a person entering the small coffee shop Patton didn't even need to look up to know who it was. At the same time every day the same man came in, looking exhausted and very grumpy. Some days he looked worse than others, almost looking like he might stab someone if he didn't get his coffee in the next five minutes. Other days he just looked mildly annoyed, but he never actually came in looking well rested and happy.

Patton did finally look up to smile at him when he reached the counter, not bothering to greet him as he did all the other customers. "Hey, Virgil. Same as always?" He asked, and when he received a nod immediately turned to start making him his drink. After seeing him every day it really was no surprise he had remembered his name and order, and it certainly helped that he may or may not be crushing on the always tired man.

Patton worked with a smile, getting his normal order ready and getting a marker to write his name on the cup, as well as an encouraging note that he always left on his drink. He wasn't quite sure when he had started doing it, but he loved thinking of something new to write on Virgil's cup. He did remember why he started, however; he simply hated seeing him always looking so down. So, he decided to put a cheesy line on his cup by his name, and that day was the very first he had ever seen Virgil smile.

The moment he had seen it Patton knew he had to keep up with the notes. Virgil's smile was simply so beautiful he couldn't stand the thought of never seeing it again. Now, even on the days where Virgil was so tired he looked close to murdering someone, he always managed to get a small smile out of him. It always brightened up Patton's day, and judging by Virgil's smile it certainly worked in cheering him up too.

Today, however, Patton had decided on something a little different. There was still a positive note on the drink, but there was something else as well. He had scribbled down his phone number, and next to that was a tiny heart. Patton bit his lip as he wrote, barely able to get his shaking hands under control so that his writing was understandable. When he finally had it written down he drew in a deep breath, working up his courage before facing Virgil.

Finally he whirled around to look at him, holding out his drink with a nervous grin. He told him the cost, by now also having that memorized, avoiding Virgil's eyes as he took his money from him. He finally managed to look up at him before he left, finding him holding up the cup to read what it said. Patton bit down on his lip once again, face burning as he waited for a reaction.

As Virgil read the first part of the message on the cup, the one that was just like all the others Patton left, his lips quirked upward into a tiny smile and he shot a grateful glance in his direction. Patton forced himself to look more cheerful as Virgil's eyes looked his way, going back to chewing his lip immediately as he continued to read.

After a moment Patton saw Virgil's eyes widen, catching the tingle of pink that slowly stained his cheeks. His smile fell, and Patton immediately felt his stomach drop. Virgil didn't like him.

"I-Uh, well, I..." Virgil spluttered, looking over at Patton and looking stunned. "Th-thanks..."

Without another word Virgil turned and rushed out of the coffee shop, not looking back at Patton as he went. Patton's face turned an even darker red than before, embarrassed and ashamed that he had done something so stupid. Tears stung his eyes and he desperately wiped them away, not wanting another customer to walk in on him while he was crying. He tried to straighten up his appearance, anything to busy himself, trying to keep distracted so his tears wouldn't fall.

Patton had nearly given up trying to hold back his tears when all of a sudden his phone made a sound from his pocket. Frowning in confusion, Patton pulled his phone out and looked down at the screen. The text he received was from a number not in his phone, and he clicked on it curiously.

Hey... sorry for rushing out like that. I was nervous and didn't know what to say, you seem really great and I didn't wanna mess anything up. Maybe wanna meet up on a date sometime? -Virgil

Patton gaped at his phone, certainly not expecting to hear that. As he stared down at his screen he received another message, one that simply contained a heart. Patton let out a relieved sigh, finally letting a smile form on his lips, not even bothering to stop it as a few of his tears did slide down his cheeks. He was simply too happy to be bothered by the tears, and the coffee shop was usually pretty empty at that time anyways.

Smile growing wider, Patton quickly typed out a response, letting Virgil know that he would love to go on a date with him. As they planned out a time and place to meet up Patton was very glad that he had written his first message on Virgil's drink.

Next will be a prinxiety one, and then maybe I'll go to bed. If not, then the one after the prinxiety one will be LAMP, and not one from on the list. I've actually had a LAMP oneshot I've been trying to finish since... the first time I went to Florida? So last week sometime, I need to finish it.

Anyways, I'm stupid, but I'm way too motivated to get any rest bc... well, what if I go to sleep and when I wake up all my motivation is gone again? I'm tired of being sad and just wanting to sleep forever. At least writing is distracting.

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed this. *Roxie Hart points a gun but instead of shooting bullets she shoots ring pops at you*
