Courtney sat on the edge of her bed, looking out the window of her hospital room, her arms wrapped around herself; out of comfort, not warmth. She was going home today, after healing from the injuries she received when she was attacked by Fox. She was waiting for Shayne, Ian, and Damien to come and pick her up. As she waited, she thought back on her life and how this whole nightmare began. Her thoughts were interrupted by her brothers and Connor coming into the room to take her home. Courtney turned to face them smiling, surprised to see Connor with them, after hugs, Shayne spoke.

"Ready to go home, babe?" Shayne asked smiling.

"Uh, yeah, I just need to..."

"Change?" Ian said smiling, cutting her off, as he held up a bag of Courtney's clothes. "We made a little pit stop last night on the way home from the hospital and the three of us moved all your stuff into Shayne's house with Connor's help."

"Seriously?" Courtney asked smiling, the guys smiled as they nodded. "You guys are the greatest; I couldn't have done any of this without the four of you by my side." She said so grateful to have the four of them in her life. "I love you, guys." She added, before she hugged them again.

"We love you, Courtney." Shayne replied, before he kissed her.

"Wait, I just thought of something important. What about you, Connor?"

"What about me?" Connor questioned confused.

"I'm moving in with Shayne, but where will you go?" Courtney asked concerned.

"Hey, guys, um, do you remember how I've been wanting to get a roommate; my house is too damn big for just me?" Ian asked smiling.

"Uh, no." Courtney answered, as they all smiled too.

"Oh...well, you know, guys, I've been thinking and I need a roommate. So, what do you say, Connor? You interested?" Ian asked still smiling.

"Really?" Connor asked, Ian nodded. "Well, in that case, I say...you've got yourself a new roommate, thanks, man."

"Awesome, we'll move you in on the way home." Shayne said smiling.

"Let me go change and we can finally get out of here." Courtney said, as she took the bag from Ian and went into the bathroom to change.

**Days Later**:

Shayne stood in the doorway to the kitchen, leaning against the wall, his arms crossed, as he watched Courtney sleeping peacefully on the couch. He was worried about her, since the day Fox was arrested she seemed different; not herself, her nightmares and needing to know where all four guys were at all times had returned. Of course, Courtney tried lying to them about it, faking her smile for them, but all four of them knew the truth.

Last night had been a rough night for her, she had had another nightmare, but like usual, when Shayne asked her about it, Courtney wouldn't tell him about it and she had been unable to go back to sleep for the rest of the night. Shayne's thoughts were interrupted by the front door opening and Ian's voice calling out to him and Courtney was heard. Not wanting Courtney to be woken up; she needed her sleep, Shayne went to the door and met Ian, Damien, and Connor, smiling, he signaled for his friends to be quiet. They went into the kitchen, Shayne began making them coffee, while Connor sat down at the table with Damien and Ian went to the doorway to check on a still sleeping Courtney.

"How is she?" Ian asked sadly.

"No different." Shayne answered sighing. "The nightmares are getting worse, she had another one last night and couldn't go back to sleep. Like usual though, she still won't talk about it."

"Have you heard anything about the case?" Connor asked.

"Yeah, Courtney's lawyer; Richard Ford, called us this morning. We have a meeting with him tomorrow at 10; you guys can ride with us instead of taking your cars." Shayne answered.

"Anyone hear where Carter is?" Damien asked, as Ian sat down at the table with them.

"Yeah, I found out yesterday, when I called the Detectives to check on the case." Connor answered. "He's still in jail, he's being held with no bail."

"That's good news at least." Shayne said sighing, as he brought their coffees to the table and sat down. "I just wish this was over, you know? I'm so worried about Courtney."

"We all are." Ian added sadly. "That bastard put her through so damn much."

"Guys, we're all forgetting one very important thing." Damien said.

 "We are? What?" Shayne asked.

"How strong Courtney is." Damien answered smiling. "I mean look at all she's been through because of that son-of-a-bitch Carter and yet she's still here, fighting back with everything she has."

"Damien's right, she won't let Fox destroy her." Connor added smiling.

Meanwhile, as the four men talked in the kitchen, none of them realized that Courtney had woken up when she had heard Ian, Damien, and Connor arrive, but kept her eyes closed pretending to be asleep, listening to their entire conversation. She only wished she had as much faith in herself, as her brothers and Connor did. She got up and went to go into the kitchen, when suddenly, outside the sounds of tires squealing was heard, before seconds later, the car stopped and gunshots rang out. All five of them dropped to the floor taking cover, after a minute; that felt like an eternity, the gunfire stopped and the car took off. Shayne, Ian, Damien, and Connor raced into the living room to check on Courtney; after making sure each of them were okay first.

"Courtney!" All four guys yelled together, panicking when they went into the living room and couldn't find her.

"I'm...I'm okay." Courtney answered, as she slowly came out from behind the couch. "Are you four alright?" She asked scared, as they rushed to her and hugged.

"We're fine." Shayne answered, as he held her close. "What the hell was that?"

Before anyone could say or do anything, Courtney's cell began to ring. She picked it up off of the table and looked at it, not recognizing the number she answered it; putting it on speaker so they all could hear.

 "Hello?"

"I see you five got my little message." Fox said.

"Carter? You son-of-a-bitch, when I see you I'm going to kill you!" Shayne yelled angrily.

"I'm shaking with fear, Shayne. I just thought the five of you would like to know that my money; you know the same money you said wouldn't be able to help me, well, it did, it got me the best lawyer around. And he got me out on bail; as of an hour ago I'm out of jail, guys. Tonight, my men were told to miss...next time, I promise you I won't." Fox warned them, before he hung up.

After the call ended, no one moved or spoke, none of them knowing what to say. Shayne held Courtney tight, she was lost in her head thinking of Fox's warning and knew she had been right all along about how this would end. She only hoped that she could end this without any of her four loved ones getting hurt.
