The Bet Pt9 (Ian/Damien)

 Ian made his way through the busy halls at work, he was headed to his office. Today was his first day back at work after being unable to for a week due to a concussion. He knew Damien wouldn't be there to welcome him back, like usual he'd be with Courtney instead. His heart ached again as he thought of how they had hurt Damien and Courtney, they had been stupid, incredibly selfish and now because of that, they hated him and Shayne. He sighed again sadly, as he thought about the stupid bet he had made with Shayne and how because of it the lives of all four of them had been changed forever! This morning he had been given the all-clear to return to work and he was happy that at least now he had a distraction. After arriving at work, he headed to his office to meet up with Shayne. His thoughts were interrupted when he arrived, before he could open the door though, it opened and Damien stood there.

 "Oh, uh, hey." Damien said nervously.

 "Damien?" Ian said confused to see him in his office without Courtney.

 "I...I forgot some papers I needed in here, so I came back for them." Damien explained, as he held the papers up to show him. "I saw Shayne in his office if you're looking for him." He added, before he began walking away.

 "Damien, wait, please!" Ian begged, turning around to face him, Damien stopped walking, but kept his back to him. "I...I miss you, Dames, I just want a chance to explain what happened."

 "There's nothing to explain." Damien said sadly, his back still to him. "I've gotta go Courtney is waiting for me."

 Ian wanted to stop him, wanted to drop to his knees and beg him to take him back, wanted to take him in his arms and never let go! Instead, he just stood there, tears in his eyes as he watched Damien walk away from him again. Taking a deep breath, he ran his hands over his face, before he went into the room, as soon as the door shut though, Ian lost it! He threw his bag across the room, before he began throwing other things too; he didn't even realize he was crying. Suddenly, someone grabbed him from behind, he tried to pull away, but the person refused to let him go and he finally realized it was Shayne when he was pulled into familiar arms. He stopped fighting him and held onto Shayne tightly as he cried, he had lost the only person he's ever loved and there was nothing he could do to fix it!

**A Month Later**:

 Shayne sat on the chair in the backyard of their house, he was alone right now, his brother had gone for a run to clear his head. Normally, Shayne went with him, lately though he didn't want to do anything except cry over losing Courtney and Damien. Since the breakup, the only time either of them talked to him and Ian was at work and it killed him a little more every time they had to pretend everything was fine. He hated himself more than Courtney and Damien ever could and wished he could go back in time and never make the damn bet! He sighed shakily and leaned back staring at the night sky, as he thought about what happened. It's been a month since that night and the ache in his heart grew more every day, the first week, they decided to stop chasing them, hoping that by giving them space it would help somehow. He's spent a lot of time with Ian talking and crying over the past month, leaning on each other, trying to help each other stay strong. He tried to act like everything was fine, but in reality, his life had completely fallen apart, he had not only lost the only woman he ever loved, but he had lost his brother too. His thoughts were interrupted by his phone ringing, taking a shaky breath, he wiped away his tears and took his phone out of his pocket. He looked at the number and saw it was Ian calling, so taking a deep breath to calm himself he answered.
