Saving Her Pt16 (Shartney)

 Shayne sat on the chair in the quiet hospital room, Courtney lay asleep in the bed. He leaned back in the chair stretching, before he ran his hands over his face and sighed. They were alone right now, Damien, Ian, and Connor were gone to get them coffee. As he took Courtney's hand and watched her sleeping, he let his mind wander back to how their nightmare began. It's been two days since she was brought to the hospital and all four guys haven't left her side. They were worried about her, ever since finding the Detectives alone with her, she's been quiet, withdrawn and it scared them; especially Shayne. His thoughts were interrupted by the guys returning to the room with their coffee.

 "She still sleeping?" Ian asked, as he handed Shayne his coffee, before he sat beside him.

 "Yeah." Shayne answered sighing, before he took a drink of his coffee, Damien sat on the other side of the bed across from them, and Connor sat in the chair by the door. "Have any of you spoken to Greene yet?"

 "I have, he's actually at the Police station talking to the Captain about Benson and Reed. Then he's coming here when he's finished." Damien answered.

 "Speaking of them, did you three get the same phone call I did?" Connor asked bitterly.

 "You mean the one demanding we come to the station with Greene today to talk about what happened?" Ian asked, as he drank some of his coffee.

 "That's the one." Connor answered.

 "Yep." Shayne replied sighing.

 "I told Greene about it when I spoke to him earlier." Damien said.

 "Morning, guys." Dr. Grant greeted them smiling, as he came into the room.

 "Morning, Dr. Grant." All four of them greeted him at the same time smiling.

 "I see Courtney's still sleeping, that's good news." Dr. Grant said, as he began checking her over, before he wrote in her chart. "I'm glad to see that the new medication's working."

 "We are too." Ian said, as he smiled sadly at his sleeping sister. "So, when can she come home?"

 "Well, even though she's healing well, I'd still like her to stay another couple of days, just to be sure." Dr. Grant answered.

 "Okay." Shayne said sighing sadly, as he looked at her again.

 "Boys, she's tough, she'll get through this and come out the other side stronger than before...you all will."

 "We know, it's just..."

 "Shayne?" Courtney's quiet voice spoke, as she woke up, cutting Ian off.

 "It's alright, Court, I'm right here." Shayne said gently, as he took Courtney's hand.

 "Where are Ian, Damien, and Connor?" She asked, opening her eyes to see Shayne.

 "Right here." Damien answered smiling, as she looked at them.

 "How'd you sleep, babe?" Shayne asked.

 "Um, good, that new medication worked." Courtney answered sitting up, with Shayne's help.

 "Good to hear, I've got to go do my rounds, but I'll be back in an hour to do a full check-up on you, okay?" Dr. Grant asked smiling, she nodded her head smiling, before Dr. Grant left.

 "How are you feeling?" Connor asked.

 "A little better." She answered.

 "Something's bugging you, what's wrong?" Shayne asked, noticing how quiet she was.
