When Thor and Loki reappeared, they were near the outskirts of Asgard, hoping to cut off the retreating Frost Giants. Thor gave Loki a sideways glance, studying the mask. Loki's hair blew in the cold wind, and he narrowed his eyes against the stiff breeze. Wherever the Frost Giants were, the cold atmosphere of Jotunheim came with them. Loki never seemed to mind it, but Thor shivered a little against the cold draft. There was a growling sound from behind a rock outcropping, and they soon heard the thunderous footfalls of the giants. Thor tossed his hammer from one hand to another, while Loki simply drew two medium length blades from the magical verse.

Thor raised his hammer and summoned lightning and thunder, while Loki started twirling his swords. The Frost Giants all gripped their weapons and slowly approached them. "You are trespassing on the lands of Odin, All-Father. You have attacked villages and destroyed the lives of innocent Asgardians. Surrender and no harm will come to you," Thor said. Loki snickered and stepped away from his brother.

"What my brother means is that if you don't comply, we'll take you in by force. That means that only one of you needs to survive," Loki translated. He chuckled, and the mask made his laugh sound hollow. The Frost Giants whispered among themselves in their own language.

"What are they saying, Loki?" Thor queried. Loki cocked his head to one side as he listened closely to what they were speaking of.

"They're saying, 'Better to kill the hammer and keep the mask. Good bartering tool'," Loki translated. Thor exclaimed and cursed loudly, startling the Frost Giants out of their private meeting. Thor roared and threw his hammer at the Frost Giants. They tried to scatter in time, but one got hit. He was practically obliterated by it. Another Frost Giant tried to attack Loki, but Loki jumped up and over him, before slicing him in half. The other giants bellowed loudly and charged at them. Thor blasted another with lightning, while Loki threw green fire at another. "I don't think they're interested in negotiating, brother," Loki said when he had incinerated one. Thor kicked one in between the legs, and hit him in the face with his hammer.

"Well, that suits my mood fine! I didn't feel like reaching an agreement anyway," Thor responded. Loki chuckled, turned around, and saw three Frost Giants coming straight for him!
