Loki placed the fake book and started using it to push the real book off of the stand. I really do wonder why the hell she has security measures like this?! I mean, it's not like people want to steal from her, Loki thought to himself as the book started to slide off. As he mentally complained with himself, he almost forgot about the book. It had almost hit the floor, when Loki reached around the pedestal and caught it. Damn! he thought as he glanced around. Nothing stirred outside. The fake book was on the stand, and the real book was in his hands. Loki gingerly pulled it up and stuck it in his pouch. After making sure that the fake book was positioned correctly, Loki stepped out of the alcove and started walking back through the room. His feet barely made a sound, and he was almost to the door, when he felt his cloak brush against the head of a soul snatcher. Idiot! Loki scolded himself and he turned slowly around. The creature was baring his teeth at the God of Mischief, and its fiery red eyes were burning into Loki's. "And that's my queue for a hasty exit," Loki muttered as he teleported through the door.
The soul snatcher let out a cold howl and everyone woke up. Hela sat up in her bed and her hell hound let out a roar. "A thief?! Who dares steal from Hela, the Goddess of the Dead?!" Hela asked as she bolted from her bed. Loki would have replied (he could hear her), but he decided that that would be wrong. Instead, he ran through the dark corridors, invisible to Hela's crazed servants. He almost collided with many of them, but he managed to skate by them. Holding the pouch with the precious book in his hands, Loki was soon outside Hela's palace and running through the barren wasteland.
He soon arrived at a cave, and entered it, panting heavily. Loki sat down between two large boulders and pushed his hood back. Some of his hair was sticking to his forehead from sweat, and he wiped it away. That was when he heard something land on the rock beside him. Loki paused and looked around. His left hand, resting on the stone, was suddenly in excruciating pain. "Ouch!" Loki accidentally exclaimed as he jumped to his feet. He looked up and saw a serpent hanging above his head, magical venom dripping from its fangs. Loki looked down at his hand and saw the burn in his skin. It looked nasty and he sucked on it. That was when he saw that there were manacles hanging from either side of the rock, for some poor unfortunate's hands to go. That was when Loki saw an inscription on the rock a few feet above the chains. He leaned in as close as he dared to read what was written there.
"Here is the resting place for Mischief. Pain shall fill his days for eternity!" Loki frowned as he realized this was where his daughter planned to put him when he finally ran out of tricks.
"I'll rue that day," Loki remarked dryly.
