"No! Absolutely not!" Thor exclaimed. Many of the other Avengers also agreed, but that was when they remembered Loki. They looked in his direction and he shrugged his shoulders.

"My parents have decided for me. But, instead of telling it to the world, how bout I just tell it to you tonight?" Loki suggested. Their eyes popped in their heads, but Loki looked serious enough that they believed him.

"Ooh! The circle of trust," Clint remarked as he sat down in a group of chairs that were set up in a circle. Natasha bipped him in the back of the head and then sat down next to him. Loki was sitting a little apart from them, but he pulled his chair a little closer and waited for everyone else to get settled. Loki breathed in deeply before he leaned forward a little.

"It was not long after I was cast out of Asgard. I was wandering the universe, searching for purpose and new knowledge. That was when Hela sent her minions and they brought me in. She had Thanos and the Other with her when I arrived. They offered me a deal. Go to earth, pretend you're going to take over, get the Tesseract, and kill a lot of people. In exchange for the mortal souls, Hela would give me Sigyn back. I was hesitant, as I had no real quarrel with Midgard, and I didn't want to put on a show for them. Thanos applied his own pressure and said that if I didn't do it, he would send a special squadron of Chitauri to Asgard and they would destroy her remains so that my hope would be destroyed." Everyone gasped and Loki leaned back in his chair. "That was when I agreed, because he said they would also kill Frigga. So, I made the deal, and came down to earth. But, I failed. Thanos and the Other promised me that they would find a way to hurt me eventually, but what hurt worse was my own daughter telling me that I could not have the soul of Sigyn. Sigyn wasn't her mother, and even though she was the sweetest person anyone could ever meet, Hela hated her. Fenris and Jormungandr also hated her. They were from a previous relationship that ended badly." The Avengers made faces but Loki did not continue.

"So, what did Hela say exactly when you failed your quota?" Fury asked from outside the circle.

Loki paused before answering, "She said that because I failed, the ultimate sacrifice was required. I was to either give her Thor or Odin. When I refused, she said the only outlet left was giving her my own soul!"
