Loki could feel all the eyes on him and Sigyn, and he took her hand under the table. That was when a reporter stood up and raised a pen. "Chris Davis from the New Yorker. Is it true that your own daughter held your wife hostage and put a price on her release?"
Loki leaned forward and spoke into the microphone, "As I said in that video I released, my daughter Hela, Thanos, and the Other approached me, offering me that deal. I was not keen on it, determined to get my wife back on my own terms, but they had their ways of persuasion." There were a few gasps and another reporter stood up.
"Are you saying you were tortured?" she asked. Loki nodded slightly and Sigyn placed a hand on his shoulder. He kissed it and looked into her eyes. The Avengers exchanged concerned glances as Loki had not gone into detail on how the bargain was made.
"Sigyn," a third reporter said as he looked at her. Sigyn turned to face him and smiled sweetly. "How did you die?" Loki stiffened visibly, but Sigyn's hand on his shoulder only tightened. She was the only person in the universe who could control him. She smiled again, cleared her throat and leaned forward.
"Our first born son, Vali, had become a powerful sorcerer, but he felt that his father did not respect him. He decided that he would hurt Loki for his apparent neglect. He attacked Asgard, and while my husband was trying to save the city, he killed me," Sigyn said slowly, remembering her son with a sad fondness.
"Where is this Vali now," another woman asked.
"He's dead," Thor responded and everyone looked at him. "I was there, and I saw it all."
"Who killed him?"
"I did!" The whole room turned to Loki. The muscles of his face were tight, his green eyes sparked, and his hands were gripping the table cloth in front of him. "I killed my own son because he had murdered his mother to hurt me, but that was before I realized that I hurt myself. But then I became like him." After admitting this to the mortals, Sigyn pulled Loki in and kissed him on the lips. Cameras went off and captured the moment.
"That's not going away any time real soon," Tony whispered to Bruce.
