You stared out of your window, watching the moonlight wash over the soft grass. The grass bent gently from the warm breeze caressing it. Your eyes trailed to the darkness surrounding your house, and only wondered what could be hiding in it. You sighed, shaking your head and turning around.
You ran a hand slowly through your hair and ventured into the kitchen. You rested your hands on the counter and lowered your head. You never could fall asleep at night, at least not until a few hours past. Your energy seemed to drain once the sun went down, but it meant no means of blissful sleeping.
Rubbing your face, you held your head in your hands and sighed once more. At night, your smile always seemed to be tugged upside down. You couldn't help it, it came in waves. You heard Mark shuffling around somewhere upstairs. You closed your eyes, feeling exhaustion deep within your bones. Depression seemed to hit always at night, always unexpected.
You felt numb, almost like you weren't in control of your body. You felt like it took more energy than needed to just walk into the living room. So, you decided to just stay in the kitchen. You quickly heard Mark pad his way downstairs. He appeared in the kitchen, smiling at you. His smile slowly dropped when he saw your leaning heavily against the counter, a solemn look crossing your lips.
"Again?" He asked softly, causing you to slowly raise your head. You nodded, biting your lip. He knew about your moments, and he always wished he could take them away. Mark always saw how much it took out of you, how much you lost with every wave that hit you. He crossed the tiled floor and took you in his arms gently. You rested your head against his chest, his arms circling your waist. You felt his lips in your hair, kissing the side of his head.
"Come here." He whispered, pulling you towards the living room. He watched tears roll down your face that you didn't give notice to yet, and sat you down on the couch. You felt as though lead was pumping through your veins, and your feet were weights. He hated to see you like this, this wasn't you. He sat across from you, grabbing your chin.
He gently pulled your chin up, forcing your gaze to land on his. His eyes were soft and tender, bright flecks of yellow shining in his irises. His fingertips trailed softly across your bottom lip, then to your cheeks to wipe away the warm tears.
"Your not alone." He said, leaning closer to talk to you. You nodded mumbly, trying to show him a smile, but finding it a struggle. He saw the war going on in your eyes and his heart hurt to see you in this state. Your hand gripped his free hand weakly, more tears rolling down your cheek. He frowned, holding your left hand up. You watched as he leaned down, kissing your first knuckle gently.
His lips touched each knuckle with a kiss, before he started down your hand. You could feel his soft, plump, lips travel light kisses down your arm. His red hair fell down his face, tickling your skin as it brushed by. Tingles spread through your arm as he moved closer so his lips could travel up your elbow.
"I love you (Y/N)." He murmured through kisses. He managed to kiss all the way up your left arm. When he reach your neck, he switched to your right arm, starting the process all over again. Goosebumps rippled over your skin as you watched him pepper kisses all over your arm. When he made it to your neck again, he continued there. You enjoyed the feeling of his lips at your collar bone.
"Your...not...alone." Mark said, kissing firmly at your throat. Your tears were wet on your cheeks, but were no longer falling. Your body still aches with sadness, but you could feel again. You were beginning to lose the numbness. Mark pulled you close and started sucking your neck passionately and gently. You closed your eyes and hugged him close, your fingers lacing with his.
He left your neck and kissed up your jaw and across your chin. He finally made it to your lips where he pressed them softly against yours. He you with a slow passion, full of love and care. He wiped away the remaining tears pooling on your cheeks. You kissed him back, feeling the weight being lifted off of you.
His lips moved effortlessly over yours, his hand caressing your cheeks. His thumb ran over your cheekbone as he deepened the kiss. Reluctantly, you both pulled away to catch your breath. He smiled a little as the blush returned to your pale cheeks. You sniffled and wiped the corners of your eyes, still feeling his lips on your skin. He pulled you in his lap, cradling you.
"You're never alone, (Y/N). I'm here for you baby, I am. Markimoo is always here to save the day." He kissed your cheek and picked you up. He carried you to bed and made sure to wrap his arms securely around you. You rested your head on his chest and felt the relief of sleepiness take over. You kissed his lips one last time before falling under."
"My red-haired hero."
