Anong gagawin niyo kung sinabi sa inyo ng kapitbahay niyo na laging may tao sa bahay na nabili niyo kahit hindi pa kayo lumilipat? Tutuloy pa ba kayo tumira sa bahay na iyon?

Nangyari ito 2006, nakabili kami ng bahay sa Rizal. Bago kami lumipat, kumausap kami ng contractor para maglagay ng bubong sa likod bahay at sa harapan naman, window grill, fence, gate, and awning on the condition that they work only every Saturdays from 1 to 5PM since that was our only free time then and we had the keys to let them in. This is important to establish the fact that there were no people in our house from Sundays to Fridays at any time, day or night until we moved in.

August 5, 2006, we visited the house again after all the construction was done to clean and get the house ready for our move the following day, August 6. After all the cleaning, at around 4PM, we decided to buy some soda from our neighbor one house away.

To help paint a picture of the next scenario, allow me to describe our house's backyard/laundry area, it's open in the back, no walls except the low dividing wall between houses (imagine a set of stairs with each house being a step and the walls being the riser gaps between each step. It's called a low dividing wall because when you're in your laundry area, the height of it is about ribcage high), so your neighbor can see your backyard easily and vice versa.

Back to the story, so, while waiting for our soda bottles to be opened, this was the conversation we had

Neighbor:  "Welcome sa neighborhood. Dito na pala kayo natutulog tuwing weekend."

Hubby and I looked at each other then me to neighbor: "Hindi pa po kami lumilipat and ang tao po sa bahay every Saturday lang po 1 to 5PM nung may pinapagawa kami na natapos na po last week, Saturday. Bakit niyo po nasabi na nakalipat na kami?"

Neighbor: "Ay, akala namin nakalipat na kayo kasi ilang gabi na tuwing 11 or 12, may nakikita kaming anino ng medyo matangkad na lalaki na nag¥o¥osi sa labahan niyo, last namin nakita kagabi." (Mind you, hubby isn't that tall, we both stand at only 5'5")

Me: "Ganun po ba, sige po thank you. Sabihin namin sa security na baka may pumapasok sa bahay."

After the conversation, we went to the security office to inform them of the incident.

Security Officer: "Sir and Ma'am, wala pong makakapasok sa bahay niyo galing sa likod dahil nakalock po yung magkabilang bahay sa tabi niyo, may mga may-ari na po and nasa kanila na ang mga susi. Tapos yung katalikod bahay niyo 20feet po ang taas ng pader niyo sa  kanila. At yung isa namang katabi niyo 10feet ang taas niyo sa kanila. Wala pong dadaanan."

We said our thanks and went back to the house. As soon as we entered, we made a beeline straight for the backyard. The last time we cleaned there was the week prior, so if someone were truly there, there would be traces of cigarette ashes and the most, cigarette butts, but we found none.

The next day, after we unboxed our stuff, we decided to give the backyard a once over. And there on the wall, something caught our eyes. There was a clean handprint on the wall, but in order to reach that part, one needs to be 6feet tall, at least. The print was black, the size of it was at minimum, twice the size of a man's hand. The fingers were long, almost like claws. The print stayed on the wall for years, sometimes it lightens, other times, it looked fresh and dark. And yes, may times na parang may tao sa likod bahay na nakasilip sa bintana ng kusina, lalo na nung mag-isa lang ako sa bahay tuwing pang gabi si hubby sa BPO noon. Nakita na din siya nung friend ko, sabi naman sa amin, bantay daw namin yung entity and it doesn't mean us harm, but it is harmful to anyone who has bad intentions towards us.

Dito pa din kami nakatira, pero wala na siya ngayon, he went back to his realm, but he does drop by every now and then. We know he dropped by because we would see his handprint on the wall, dark and fresh.
