He ran. He didn't stop. He could hear them screaming at him;

"GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE BITCH."

He heard the shots of a shotgun, but he just kept running. He tripped over a branch and hurt his knee a little, but he got back up.

He needed to get away.

He had to get away.

At one last shot, he felt pain, and he screamed. He lifted his shirt to find shrapnel in the did of his stomach.

He was almost to the edge of the forest. Almost to freedom.

He soon found a road, to his luck a car was coming. He jumped in front of it, the driver stomping on his brakes immediately.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU STUPID KID?! I COULD HAVE HIT YOU!"

"I know, I'm sorry. Please, can you give me a ride to the hospital?"

The driver of the vehicle stayed quiet for a moment, "What's wrong with you?"

"I've been shot. Please."

Another shot was heard.

"Get in, now."

"Thank you. Thank you."

He climbed into the vehicle, the drive was silent as he caught his breath.

"Grian."

"Grian!"

"GRIAN!"

"Will you get out of your own head?"

"We need to go."

"Grian, this isn't what your life is."

A hard slap across his face sent him gasping and back to reality.

"OW!" Grian shouted rubbing his cheek, "X!"

"Grian, we need to go. Now." Xisuma said, "I need you to stay out of your own head for five minutes and run."
