It seemed that every time the news came onto your television screen, you were left distraught by another horrible thing happening. Nowhere seemed to be safe, every country, every race of people was suffering in some form of way. Murder, terrorism, rape, the worst crimes imaginable were sweeping the world and every day there was at least one more atrocity attacking the world. You wished desperately that you could do something to save everyone, to bring the good back from the evil but no matter what you did there seemed to be no change. It seemed as though the good was gone forever.

You tried to contain your emotions as you knew it shouldn't affect you that much but sometimes you couldn't help but sob at the news. Every part of you ached with need, wanting to fight all the horrible parts of the world that tortured your fellow humans. Today was one of the worst days. You had just watched a piece on another shooting, and it made you question the government and how they could be so dismissive of such a danger. Either way, you couldn't help but cry silently, curled up on the sofa.

The door to the living room opened and you quickly acted. You tried your best to remove the tears that had stained your cheeks but by the time Pepper had joined you on the sofa, it was a futile attempt.

"What's wrong?" She questioned, taking your hand lovingly.

"I'm fine," you whispered, trying to hide you true sorrow under a fake smile.

Pepper cocked an eyebrow at you, knowing it was complete bullshit. She knew you better than anyone, not that it would take a genius to realise that you were upset.

"Your tears contradict that," she smiled softly, using her thumb to brush a rogue tear away.

You tried to offer a weak smile, but more tears fell.

"I don't know how to live in such an evil world," you whispered.

"What do you mean?"

"There is so much danger in the world, it seems as though all the good that had ever been has been completely depleted," you sighed. "I don't know what to do if the world succumbs to the evil in it."

Pepper cupped your cheeks and leaned in to press a kiss onto your forehead.

"There may be more evil in the world than ever before, but I promise you there will always be good. The good in the world will always prevail," she smiled.

"I hope so," you said softly. "I really hope so."
