Trigger warning; some of the words and imagery in this one shot may cause you to be triggered. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

I was out patrolling when I passed a familiar house, and saw something that broke my heart. Sitting in the window was MJ, tears rushing down her face. I swung over and stopped on the fire escape outside her window.

"What's wrong?" I asked as I sat on the railing, causing her to jump. She quickly wiped her tears with her sleeves and kept her arms covered.

"Nothing, nerd. Why are you here?" She asked and I took off my mask, looking at her eye to eye.

"I was going home from patrol and saw you crying, now what happened?" I asked again, concern laced in my words.

She rolled her eyes and stepped out onto the fire escape. The moon illuminated her features and she was glowing. Her long honey brown hair shined in the lazy bun she had on the top of her head, and her hazel eyes glistening with unshed tears. She had shorts on with a long sleeve shirt. I glanced at her covered arms and saw something soaking the sleeves. I reached out and grabbed her arm, carefully lifting it up.

"What are you doing loser?" She asked, but I ignored her slight tug at her arm. I lifted the sleeve to her elbow slowly and gasped quietly. I looked up to meet her eyes and a tear spilled from her eye. I felt tears well up in my own eyes.

"Why didn't you just tell me? I could've helped you." I asked close to breaking down and she looked down.

"Cause, when we break our arm, everyone runs to sign our casts. But, when we say we have depression, everyone runs the other way.." She explained, her voice wavering. She didn't even look at me, as if I wouldn't still be here.

I bent down and picked her chin up, tears were rolling down her gorgeous face, mixing with the blood flowing down her arm. I held her arm with one hand and held her chin with the other. I moved my thumb gently over her cheek, wiping away a tear that was falling down.

"I'm not leaving you. You should have told me.." I whispered and she looked at me with sad eyes, absolutely breaking my heart.

"I'm so sorry.." She cried and I held her in my arms.

After a while she fell asleep and I lightly carried her inside to her room, and over to the bathroom. I gently cleaned her arm, my heart clenching every time she winced at the pain and wrapped her arm when I finished cleaning the blood. After she was cleaned up, I lay in bed with her.

"I love you." I whispered and saw her smile before going to sleep. I can't believe I didn't see the signs before, but how could I? MJ was a very private person, and although we were really close, emotion was never really shown, unless it was annoyance or anger at Flash. I pulled her closer and kissed her forehead. "I won't ever let this happen again." I quietly promised.

I do not agree with self harming, but I've had my fair share with the experience. To anyone who does or know someone who does, just know that everyone is beautifully unique in their own way and there's absolutely nothing wrong with you. You are loved and I hope you know there's always someone you can talk to. <3
