I've been bullied on-and-off for years. From name-calling to teasing, verbal bullying was the focus of my experience. The worst was in high school, with people I thought were my friends. One group of "friends" literally stopped talking to me for no reason; I literally hadn't done anything to them, just one day at school they decided that they (purposely) wouldn't say another word to me. The other group of "friends" would say behind my back that I was too stupid to get into the college of my dreams.

I stopped talking to those people, for one because they didn't want to talk to me for whatever reason, and two because I didn't need that negativity in my life.

To make a long story short, I proved all of them wrong by getting into my top college choice, and going there. How did I do that? By staying focused on the friends and family that truly did care about me. I'm definitely more guarded when it comes to trusting people now, but that's okay; I've managed to make some great friends in college, who I know would never treat me like my "friends" did in high school.

It gets better. Just stay focused on what you want in life.
