Relationships?

Let's face it-- not all relationships are bound to last.

Realistically speaking, there is an infinitesmal percentage that you will be able to have this ideal "happy ending" that conforms with the society's standards by the time you grow too old to function. Yes, it is a wonderful thought to grow old with somebody, until both of you are too weak that you have to hold onto each other for support, else one would topple over. You'd be the couple that young, hopless romantic teenagers would envy. You'd be the inspirational couple in photoshopped pictures with random made-up conversations that would make girls swoon. You'd be the ""dream couple"" that possesses the commitment, passion, and belief in love 99% failed to achieve.

But hey! Snap out of your daydream. Reality check: again, there is an INFINITESMAL chance you would ever experience this in your lifetime. Why am I even saying this? I'm saying this because I want all of you to realize that a perfect relationship is relatively defined. It does not require lasting forever, nor growing old with each other. A perfect relationship is how you define it to be, long as happiness is attained and self-actualization is achieved. As we all know, professors taught us that in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, self-actualization is the highest attainable need, wherein you live not only for yourself, but also for others. Do try to live for your partner, do give in such a way that you're giving not the left-overs in your life, but also a part of you the person would never forget. It's not about the length of the relationship; it's about the depth.

If ever you had attained happiness and self-actualization but the relationship still ended, do not regret; having experienced this kind of relationship can be considered a milestone. Maybe it cannot be considered perfect by others just because it didn't last, but long as you did your best and you had achieved the aforementioned, what others think won't even matter. You had the time of your lives that can only be cherished by the both of you.
