Based on my observations as well as my family and friends', Filipinos always make fun of people who makes grammatical errors when they, themselves, couldn't even speak proper English when they're asked to do it. Well, those who can do so as well.
It's just hard to understand why people WHO ACTUALLY TRY gets made fun of. Nothing is funny. Not all people have an IQ like yours and some people just can't master the language no matter how much they try.
I spent a couple of years in US when I was young and you know what? If you're from another country, they wouldn't care that much about your grammar as long as they get the point you're trying to express because they understand that you didn't grow up in their country and that English is not the language that you're used to. It's not your mother tongue, they say. Most of them aren't that good either. Heck, some of them couldn't even distinguish ""to"" from ""two"" or ""too"" And yes, it could be infuriating at times but you get their point, there's no need making such a fuss about it.
Do you understand what I'm trying to say here? Americans, people who are different from us, people who grew up with English as their mother tongue, are far more understanding than those of us who didn't. See how sad that is? We're supposed to have each other's backs on this but no, instead of doing that, most of us choose to laugh instead.
I've seen a couple of videos with the caption ""RIP ENGLISH"" and there was one video that I've watched where Willie Revillame interviewed a young lady whose English was pretty hard to understand. As I was trying to comprehend what she's trying to say, I couldn't help but feel bad when I noticed how the audience laughed at her. What's worse, when I looked at the comment section, there was one comment that really caught my attention. That person said that the lady's ""trying hard"" and so many people agreed with him, laughed with him even. All I wanted to do that time was to tell him off but that would've only caused a fight and I wasn't raised picking fights with ignorant people. Anyway, the lady stood tall and proud despite all the laughing and that's the only highlight of that video, not her grammar. Guys, that's something to be proud of, you know? That just shows us how brave she is. Stop looking at the wrong side of the picture and start looking at the right one.
I get that you're smart, but having the habit of doing everything that I've stated above only makes you unsophisticated and ignorant. Start fixing your attitude because that attitude won't bring you up, trust me.
